Hi, I just have a 1er, but lurking and doing research as I’m hoping to get a 2014+ M5 after the 1 is paid off in 3 years.
Anyway, get 1 step colder plugs and gap to whatever is recommended for the JB4. Its either at .02 or .022, I forget. |

Honestly no real reason to buy a JB4 with tuning capabilities now.
As an early adopter here thats all we had but now, I'd just go right to a legit tune. Going to cover more perimeters and likely be better if you get a recommendation for competent shop here. |

When was the last time your plugs were changed ? if they have not been changed, change them. Gap appropriately or buy a colder plug NGK.
I would have the car scanned to see exactly, could be a coil as well. I just recently threw a misfire, changed my plugs and all coils (a little over kill) but my car is running awesome.

I had the same issue.....jb4 stresses the coils and plugs....so I replaced all coils and plugs plus gapped to the 0.02 and car never check engined again.....but obviously have your mechanic check the codes generated to confirm
