Any updates ? On the cleaning diy? I'm having the dreaded 4th gear issue and would like to do a major cleaning. From what I see the tranny doesn't have to be removed just the pan.

Trans needs to come off - but cleaning doesn't fix the 4th gear (rod 5-7) issue. That's not fully understood yet. Cleaning will make it run better though!

ok, so i was thinking of upgrading to this larger DCT pan when i change the fluid next month, seems to be cheaper than SSP's (sorry Kris) and just wondered if the extra fluid and the reduced heat would help the gearbox life, seems quite a good upgrade

I hope the pan available from Vivid is fully machined when you buy it! Very odd to show the cast pan the way they are. I can't tell for sure, since no machining is shown, but I'd be worried that the stock pan gasket might not work with this pan either. Make sure you pin them down on that before you buy it.

It might be cheaper, but you get what you pay for:

Here's the description of the part:
Cast Aluminum Construction
cool faster and dissipate heat better
40F cooler compare other ones on market
withstand a rock up to 30mph
Increases fluid Capacity by a Liter
Cooling Fins
Anodized and Heat Treated

Do you really believe that a cheap cast piece can run 40 degrees cooler than a billet aluminum pan. Also, heat treating cast aluminum is unheard of. Almost all heat treating is done with T6-8 aluminum's.

Interesting, im guessing there saying its cooler due to the cooling fins, here is another pic of one, its definitely not as nice looking as the SSP, but is Kris saying that the SSP one remains cooler due to it being billet rather than cast? just trying to discover the comparison for the money.

-Also think there saying it can take a rock, and the stock plastic one cant !!!
-I just wanna know it will run cooler than stock and im happy

Both the billet SSP pan and the cast pan have cooling fins. Both probably keep the trans fluid cooler while running, but there's no way the cast pan keeps the fluid 40 degrees cooler than the SSP pan! Perhaps that's a measured delta from the stock pan?

The stock pan is covered by a plastic dirt/debris panel anyway, so a moot point. I have the SSP pan but have not yet installed it. With the added capacity with more depth, I'm not sure either the SSP pan or the one from Vivid will be able to use the stock plastic cover? Kris can answer that one for us, but if the cast pan will only survive an impact from a rock under 30 mph I'd have concerns! A casting is much more fragile than a piece machined from billet!

I would have got that for you TheHouseOne but I have sold my SSP pan and the car so stuffed for gathering any data.

As for the comment on the rock protection and the same for the oil temp, is they used specific numbers which is wrong when there are many variables, i.e can it stand a 1 ft round rock hit at 30mph.. well maybe but the rest of the car would be a right off, doesnt matter whether it fell from the sky or was lying in the road lol. The plastic OEM pan could withstand a 1/8" rock at 30 mph. Just a pointless statement.
