Rattlepalooza!

Hi all,

Well, after reading some posts on rattles, I think I've determined that my car has pretty much all of them:

Dash Rattle (B&O center cover?)
B-Post Rattles (Loose bolts behind covers?)
Overhead Console Rattle (Slotted grate/confirmed)
Clunk From Rear Over Bumps (Rear springs?)

I wanted to air this out to the group and see if I'm on the right track as far as having them traced down. It seems that there is a bulletin on the B&O center, and a known correction for the B-pillar bolts (tightening). I have confirmed that the overhead console rattle is the slotted grate, but I'm not sure of a fix.

What is the fix for the clunk from behind you over bumps. It's consistent when on a road with expansion joints. Every bump over a joint you get a "clunk" from behind your head. I haven't crawled around in the back seat while the car is being driven, but the description of the sound being like a tool or solid object bouncing in the trunk seems apt to me.

Comments?

Chris

I was hearing the dull clunk when I was on my ED trip.

Funny you bring this up. The rattle in my B-Pillars have come back after having the bolts/washers tightened over 30,000 miles ago. I have to remember to tell the dealer to tighten them back up again. Sigh.

Does anyone have a link to the bulletins?

Also, off topic, but do you guys know if there is any formal bulletins on squeaking brakes?
Thanks
