My car has 35,000 miles on it and it just started making this noise last week. It is horrendously loud. The same as you described and worse when going left. I'm due for an oil change soon so I will see what the dealer tells me the issue is.

I have a ticking noise that was coming from my back wheel. I thought it was the wheel bearings at first but the noise did not get louder when I corner hard.
so I decided to take off all 4 of my wheels, cleaned the rotor hat and hub area with WD-40. also cleaned the back of the wheel with WD-40. put some anti-seize on the two surfaces and replaced all the wheels back onto the hub. the fix has been working for me so far. no more ticking noise. so I guess its not a bad bearing. its just the wheels making some noise against the rotor hat. let me know if this fix works for you.

Hi
I had this with mine, it is a 100% known fault. They put a BMW supplied spacer/shim in the front suspension assembly somewhere, problem solved. First time dealer had done it, but they knew exactly what it was once they consulted their 2nd line support. So don't let the dealer says its normal its not, and they have a fix for it. BTW I told them I was sure it was a bearing....and got the got the usual SA eye roll... Cheers stu

I have the same issue -- had it on my 2013 and my 2014.
Back in 2013 when the M5 was new in USA, some dealer (Alexander BMW, I think) told me that it was because we had floating rotors or some shit... My 2014 has it now and I found out from this forum its a bearing issue and there's actually a repair ID# for it. My 2014 has it pretty loud now and its embarrassing rolling into valets (my condo is valet based parking, so coming HOME and going out I have to deal with this). Im going in for oil change to Irvine BMW tomorrow and gonna try and make them fix it with a bearing repack / replacement -- but as we know, its only temporary.

I have the same issue. Thanks for the info - it'll make it much easier to deal with the dealership when I can tell them exactly what needs to be done.

Same issue here. Same old "ticking/clicking" noise.
Dealer repacked bearings, etc, and silence now...just like new (6000 miles BTW). We all know this is a temporary fix and will resurface again. Reason number 2000 why you always lease a car like this. |
