High Beam Assist and TPM Coding

Two features which I was upset at not having... but after coding (actually had someone do this remotely - and he did a great job!) i now have both!

HBA - is now set to automatically come on (the F10 has the software, just not the button on the stalk). If you flash your high beams, it stays active. If you turn on your high beams, it deactivates (but just by switching lights on/off, HBA turns back on). Cool!!!

TPM - i now have pressure and temp!

I'm very happy now!!

Cool! Enjoy the feature. I guinea pig'd this back in September. Oh, and I also have the stalk.

I hope this guy didn't charge you for what was more than likely stuff I and others shared with the community for free.

Look up the coding thread in the DIY section. If you have any questions PM me.

He charged a pretty low rate based on about 2 total hours he spent on project. I could probably do my own plumbing for free as well, but I eventually pay someone to clean up my mess. Well worth the small fee in my mind as I have no IT background...

Wow - it usually takes me about 5-7 minutes per feature coded which includes verification that it is working. In 2 hours he must have coded a lot of features. What's the full list?

Try to learn how to do this on your own, it's quite a lot of fun. Then as others discover cool tweaks you can do these yourself, without being dependent on someone else to help you. It's not nearly as difficult as it sounds.

If you're in central california I can help you out in person (obviously no charge). Others on the forum will also help you gratis.

2 hours included unzipping and unloading all the files (i downloaded most, but didn't unzip the par(?) files)... actual in car time was about 30 - 45 minutes, of which i was actively involved about 4 minutes (so i could do my real job... I think 9 features or so, added two more after we closed everything out.

VIM
TPM
Mirrors fold on lock
Trunk close with FOB
HBA
Windows keep closing when door open
turn signal in HUD
warnings turned off (kept seat belt one though)
Welcome lights (low beam) - although i may have had this already
Unlock doors when car turned off

Anyone figured out how to have Night Vision automatically come back up when you touch iDrive? (its annoying to keep pushing the button below steering wheel when i change the radio - i use NV to avoid deer). Also how to connect bluetooth while in motion? When i dock my iphone it loses the bluetooth music connection (I play Spotify) which doesn't work on dock (unless someone has figured that out)?

That's a nice design. I went for the violence free crisis line plate. It has the advantage of white lettering on a medium/light blue background. It's quite hard to read which is why I chose it.

No I'm just registered there as a company car. I do come up there from time to time because I have a call center operation up there but my car is in the South East.

Am I correct in assuming that this is something which I can request free of charge during my delivery process? I wanted to have TPM turned on as well as the auto start/stop function turned off.

No. The dealer will have no idea what you are talking about.

This is an unofficial software configuration change.

TPM is already turned on. It's a Federal requirement. What isn't available is the display of individual pressures/temps, for whatever reason. As Stealth indicated it is custom coding.

Auto Start/Stop will remember the last used setting at every restart. So if you turn it off once, it will remain off until you turn it on again.

Just set the software up on someone elses PC, remote in and do the programming.

But I would encourage you to try yourself. I have a business background. Know very little about computers. But I was able to do this myself.

Is the high beam assist in the mirror or the front camera?

Do all F10 M5s come with the ability to do HBA?

I may be replacing my mirror and want to use HBA. Do I need one with a HBA option or can I just get any M5 mirror?

Thx

It utilizes the camera - the same camera that's used for anti-collision warning. I believe the camera is located behind the mirror but not in the mirror.
