Removing the speed limiter

Hi everyone.
My home is over on the 3series section.

But I have a friend who has an m5 and would me to remove his speed limiter.

How would he go about doing this? Can it be coded out?

Thank you

On another thread stealth claimed it could be coded out and if you live in Miami, he can do it for you in five minutes if you bring him the car. I would like to have it done for mine but I am in Austin and I am not keen on getting a coding setup and going through all the hassle. I would rather pay someone $200 to do that and some other things if possible.

No.
Only option is to get the M Driver Package from BMW as an option
This option is not available to folks in NA

I can't do it. Coding doesn't allow it.

No tuner has been able to remove the speed limiter as of now, quite a good protection by BMW there. As for M Driver's Package that costs around $4k here includes speed limiter raised from 250km/h to 315 km/h. Considering that '250 km/h' is actually 270 km/h then I'm guessing that Driver's Package's 315 km/h means 330 km/h, also includes free 2 days in M Driving School in Germany.

I also read somewhere that those tuners who claim '630 hp' are those that read the ECU from early test cars which were bumped up to impress the press, but still had limiters in place and now sell them as a "tune". Could be wrong, but it does make sense, especially for those that claim to do it only with a software tune.

Thanks for the info...Europe always gets cool shit. That sounds like a awesome deal to me. Well thank you also because I was contemplating a tune and this was a contributing factor for getting it. It seems tuners still have a lot of homework to do.

I think if you run a GPS speedo you will find that you are backwards here. 270 km/h (indicated) is actually 250 km/h.

yes, that's what I meant, their 315 km/h limiter takes into account speedometer flaw

Hey, if your ever in H Town, Shawn Sheridon is very good and codes everyones cars here for free. He is on the other f10 forum and is well respected. On another note, I'll let you know when I go back to Austins Saltlick BBQ. Maybe we can meet up there for a tasty meal.
