HUD worth it?

Just curious how many consider HUD a 'must have'.

Probably one of the few who don't have it, but never did have one so I'm not really pining for it. That said, the loaner I recently drove had one and I found the nav to be helpful.
Would assume most checked this box when ordering a new spec car.

thoughts?

I opt out for
Hud,comfort access, lane on cluster, heated steerig, and birds eye camera. I just wanted the Engine and Basic needs, lol. Well it came like that, my specific preference was Red Interior and manual. And thats it.

I think the HUD in the m5 is great. Especially compare to the one in the last generation of the x5m.

Specifically
You can see it clearly with sun glasses.
M mode is actually useful
navigation on display is good
Integrated display of audio is really good

I would seriously recommend the exec package.. just makes living with the cr so much better. For me the m5 is not stripped out sports car but a sports luxury sedan with lots of power.

HUD is a must....it changes your driving focus immediately and the new version provides lots of info on the windshield. I don't wear sunglasses, cannot comment there.

Love the HUD, I wear 3 different pairs of sunglasses, crystal clear all the time, 2015 model.
I especially like the Nav info, eg turn left in 7 miles. So I can have some fun for 6 miles without missing the turn lol.

HUD is now a necessity for me after having it, had a loaner yesterday and couldn't get used to looking down all the time. Hoping Porsche adds it on the 991.2s if they don't already have it.

So many people want it that you may be excluding some buyers when it comes time to sell by not ticking the box. Obviously less important if you are leasing.

HUD is something that once you have it, you'll never want to be without it again.

Well said; my wife's 2015 GL550 doesn't have it and it disappoints me every time I drive it.

HUD should be the #1 option. Followed by full leather.

100% worth it. Comes in very handy when using navigation and ///M modes.

Worth it! First got it in my E60 M5 and would regret not having it in any future car.

HUD is great in that it's a system of systems. It has a lot of useful data you need to quickly glance at without taking your eyes off the road including all sorts of warnings like fuel reserve indicator, local speed limit, etc. The one thing to note is that by design, it hides all that in M modes and switches to a race mode display. It's also height adjustable. The M5/6 should come standard with it and make it larger and cram more data in it though differently color coded to train the driver's eyes to focus on the important bits of info. It's very useful and going to only get better. Don't buy the beast without one.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I didnt feel M mode was highlighted enough, when you are banging through the gears hard its so nice to have the HUD

I will say with my prescription polarized sunglasses I am not able to see it without turning my head slightly.
