Was wondering how many people are experiencing the squeal with the stock brake and were able to fix it through a bed in or if that's even reccomended? I started getting a squeal when coming to a stop, lightly pressing on the brakes. Took it to my dealer and they fixed it or so they said by cleaning the rotors and pads. They further told me the process they used took the brakes back to show room condition and for me to take it easy for the first 200 miles. That was at 2800 miles.. I just hit 3800 miles this week and the squeal is back. Dealer told me this time nothing they can do. Brakes are safe, within all tolerances and are a performance brake that are known to squeal. |

Ceramic brake pads would help a lot. I remember my parent's Lexus GS460 had a brake squeal issue. Took it to the dealer, and they replaced it with quiet brakepads which were ceramic pads. Solved the problem permanently. Issue with the M5 is not many people make ceramic pads, and also I think they may slightly reduce braking power.

I like the ceramic brakes not only for their superior performance at the limits, but more importantly, for the 42 pound unsprung weight savings they provide. That's a huge difference. Couple that with some BBS FIs and you've got over 60 pounds unsprung weight savings.....that'll make the car feel lighter on its feet.
If i order an LCI, I'm springing for the CCB. |

Like I said in my review of the CP car the differences are almost trivial, and now we learn that they are using a cast wheel. How is this package supposed to have credibility when we learn this? I mean at a minimum they could have put wider tires on it. What use is a wider softer heavier wheel with the same tires? BMW thinks we are a bunch of chumps.
