Seems like there is a lot of brake squeal issues on the steel brake M5's...

Seems like the M5 needs better brakes when driven like this... (see the smoke towards the end of the video)

Nice video. I see that it was posted today. I too have smoked my brakes once already too. My BMW Performance School Instructor once told me that's how you know you are doing it right.

Ok, for everyone that has a negative impression of the CCB's... My onboard service says that the discs never need replacing and last the lifetime of the car and the brake pads need changing in 100,000 miles! Now opting for these brakes isn't everyones choice, but for such a heavy and powerful car with the style of cross European driving I do with monthly track sessions these brakes are more than worth it for me. I wonder how many people have ever driven cars with 2nd or 3rd gen CCB?

The 23 kilo weight saving which is importantly unsprung makes a sizeable difference to the handling of the car. For me spending the money on the CCB was a no brainer but spending £3700 on the B&O system made no sense on a drivers car as I rarely use the stereo when driving.

Each to their own thats why we all have differently specced and coloured M5's!

So what changed your mind then Bud?

I see the car is back up for sale at Ocean Torbay..

http://www.oceantorbaybmw.co.uk/appr...m5-saloon.html

Seriously, I believe I own the only other CCB car in the UK and am interested to know if there's something I should know!!??

They must be joking at that price!!!, I could take £8K off that and still by specced up new LCI.
These dealers make you laugh.

I agree this is unrealistic given the discount available on new. I guess they are overestimating how much Ccb is worth on the used market.

Great review. but I am wondering this is not a LCI m5. So is this a retrofit of carbon ceramic brakes or you could of got carbon ceramic brakes on the M5 before LCI M5? the first edition m5 in the U.S which is 2013 m5 you could not get the carbon ceramic brakes. only on the newest 2014 LCI M5 you can get them. So I am confused of your car since it did not have the LCI led lights and not the new steering wheel.

That car was a march 2013 car, the upgraded bits came in then, not the improved Nav / touch though, so ceramics were an option, I rather like the White with RED Leather now I have seen them together.
That car could well be a bargain.

Oh I see so right before they stop making 2013 models, they had already upgraded parts in the car so you can get the new ceramic brakes then right? but the steering and the feel is not the same as a 2014 lci m5?. that combo does looks good. I was going to get it but for some reason I was not liking the white.

March 2013 was a change point here i believe for steering and some some other stuff like optional Ceramics , September here was the upgraded Nav with touch TMK.
