We all understand asking vs. sale price. Hence why many of us have commented that the "sale" price will probably be lower than MSRP.

Look, the fact is, you didn't have to buy TWO of these cars. You chose to do it to try and flip the other one and make a profit. That's fine. I've got no problem with it (even though I don't think it will be successful for you).

I think everyone is disappointing with you because you have come to this forum, a community, trying to find a buyer. Hopefully you understand that the purpose of this forum is to help other enthusiasts, not to try and profit off of them.

I am sure everybody in this forum knows the difference between asking and sales price! Even more than that everybody knows the meaning of "mark-up" and I'm sure there is no way 170k asking price drops to 142k sales price which is still MSRP!

Good luck with your sale. It's quite possible you find a buyer from other side of the world. An extra $30-40k is not too big of a deal considering the price tags of these high end performance cars in some other countries ;-)

OP - UK list price for 30 Jahre is approx. £92K, however, £8K discounts are apparently available which would take the price to £84K (equivalent to $142K). By comparison ~ £16K discount is currently available on std M5. That would suggest that although a 30 Jahre is likely to depreciate slower than a std M5, it's unlikely to appreciate in a similar fashion to the likes of a 991 GT3. NA is obviously a different market, so who knows, £170K may be achievable (and good luck to you in trying).

BMW did sell the F10 M5 Performance Edition in the UK in 2012 (£95K list price) as a limited run. These Performance Edition cars have depreciated quite heavily in monitory terms, even if still going for slightly more that the equivalent std M5. I agree that the 30 Jahre is a more desirable car with a whole host of factory backed upgrades (as per RPiM5's post above), claimed 3.9s 0-62mph, special order Indy options, etc.

If I didn't already own an M5, I would want the 30 Jahre, however, I personally would not be willing to pay more than list price as, IMO, the M5 is just not *that* special, 30 Jahre or not.

Thanks for sharing. I believe these are the first non-professional/BMW pics I've seen of this car.

I believe most on this forum are enthusiasts who regularly drive their M5, modify them, etc. While their are some performance gains with the Jahre, I would guess that most here don't feel the asking price justifies those gains. As for the rarity of the vehicle, the price can certainly be justified. However, those likely to consider this car, for that reason, are likely doing so for collecting (versus regular driving). In this forum, I suspect you won't find too many collectors, hence the feedback you've received.

OP - to find the right buyer, you're going to need to find a collector - not a regular Joe who wants to DD the car. It won't be worth the premium over a "standard" M5 to them. There must be some people out there who wanted this car and didn't get it - now it's your burden to find them.

As a side note, although I know people do it, I think flipping cars is one of the riskiest "investments" you can make. Unless you're flipping a car that has a mile-long waiting list in its introductory year, I just think it's a massive gamble. For a $300k, $400k, or $500k supercar, and someone who was otherwise drop that cash anyway, paying a 10% premium to drive it today versus wait a year or two may be worth it - it's the cost of cutting the line. But a special edition of an otherwise pretty ordinary production car (albeit a very nice one), seems like a very tough sell. There may be some buyers out there willing to pay for a missed opportunity, but I think it's a much more niche market than let's say finding a buyer for one of the first 458's off the production line.

In any case, I wish you well with the sale. I'd reach out to the collector communities - maybe even trying some classified posts on off-brand boards (high end, of course) where you're likely to find some enthusiast/collectors.
