I'm thinking we can start local on Saturday while everyone gets theirs, go for an extended trip Sunday, meet up with some more people on Monday and go to the above attraction (only 1.5 hrs away), and then Tuesday everybody does their own thing or we plan more from there on. I was thinking of doing Zurich, strasbourg France, Porsche museum, etc... I'll be there till Friday.

Just curious chudak18, I guess the above quote is a parody a la SNL for "the Führer's vacation house (home)" just so that German speakers may know. I think the correct German phrase would be "Das Urlaubheim des Führer" or to literally translate "vacation house of the Führer" -- "Das Urlaubhaus des Führer". My German is a bit rusty now (took 4 semesters of Hochdeutsche Sprachen in College and some conversational German at the Goethe Institut) but I can still manage. Anyway, my friends and I are headed that way -- Berchtesgaden.

LOL. If so do it now while i can still change my reservation lol. France, Switzerland, Italy, are all within driving range. Who's down for a road trip? I'm also very interested in the castles and mountain views.

I'm interested in meeting up at some point. I think a multi-day schedule that everyone is happy with will be tough, but I am open minded.

I have an 8:00am check-ip time for 9/3 pickup. I need to be back in Munich to drop off on Friday. I would like to hit the 'Ring and the Porsche museum and do as much alpine driving as possible. I would optimize on the driving and the vistas and not so much on the culture/heritage/tourism. My $0.02.

I'll be in Munich Sat (9/1) and Sun (9/2) nights as well in case there is desire for a dinner / drinks meet up.

I'll be taking my brother with me (also a BMW/Porsche driver).

Per the German Almanac, forecast for Sept. 2012 will be Min of 50 deg F and Max of 67 deg F. Record High was 87 deg F in 1997 and Record Low as 46 deg F in 2010. BTW, for the past 2 years winter was a bit late and our ski group had to move our ski trips as there was little snow beginning of the season although this past ski season around Feb/March there was record snow. I was in Val d'Isere (French side of the Alps) and the snow was more that 6 feet at the base.
