I push my car to another Level and have reach or exceeded its capabilities
to me, it doesn't matter if its cp or non cp, the suspension "they say" really helps or makes a big difference, but to each their own, like I said, if you are A driver who will just drive it to town and back and WOULD NEVer really tune it, I say Go For CP Package as they are pre-made already to handle good. BUT if you are a type of person who will start modding your beast, then i would save that 7k extra for some goodies. |

I drove 13' and 14' CP back to back before ordering mine.
The steering alone is worth $7k extra. 13' steering feel is like msport 535i steering with more weight, that's it. So vague, slow, vibrating everywhere |

Wow Thor, relax. As has been said here by others who have actually driven both, there is a MAJOR difference between the two cars. Under normal driving conditions you immediately notice the difference in steering, upon moderate to aggressive acceleration you can tell there is something different. I suspect it is the differential not the extra few ponies. It's the total package that makes it better. I had a '13 with springs and spacers and exhaust and it looked and sounded fantastic. CP is just better in my and most objective persons opinion, sorry.

Cool and agreed in the "trophy cars". I am not talking about value, max speed or lap times. I am talking about the overall driving experience of a performance street car and feel a big difference between the two.
But lucky we all don't like the same things..... Life would be pretty boring. And I do a have a dedicated track car which is a whole other story.

For me personally, I dont really care about bragging rights. As I said above, steering feel is important for me even for 40 mph daily drive. I know its not Lotus steering feel. I had 535i before M5, the steering is dead. |

Just as an update, I purchased a '15 model with CP package! Loving the sounds so far. Not that much louder but definitely has more growl. The steering feels great as well. Bought the B&O also, but not that impressed with that. No bass and somewhat airy. Now need to break it in!

Reading comments from people that have actually driven both, Im glad I made the decision to go with the CP. I had never intended to get it, but then as a last-minute "what the hey" added it to my order. Like someone said in this thread, no one regrets *not* getting it...

I'm looking to possibly buy a 1 year old f10 m5.
For me, the competition pack isn't worth it because i would still end up going for an aftermarket exhaust and the CAST 601 alloy wheels are ugly and inferior to the forged 343s. So I'd be paying extra 6-7k just for improved steering and suspension and then have to pay additional £$ to get a set of 343 wheels. |

For me, trying not to mod the car too much. I agree, if you intend to mod heavily, then CP package is prob not worth it, but if keeping close to stock, I think it's a must have IMO.
thay being said, it's still early. I may get the bug to mod soon too. |

When the roads are like sh*t, even the most smoothest roads are like sh*t then cp probably not worth it. More of a smooth ride is needed for a class of this car.
My 2 cents |

Yes. Did it to my CP M5 the day after I took delivery. Sounds awesome!

Yes, it's definitely louder at low RPMs when the valves would otherwise be closed.

You will be surprised how smooth the car is on even in rough pavement. I drove it on a cobblestone road couple of weekends ago (was in philly and certain roads in old city are cobblestone). No complaints there either.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think so. Somebody posted this diagram a few years ago. It may or may not apply to CP cars, but it suggests the throttle setting has no impact on when the valves open.
