Any of you Ohio guys thinking of trying to make the DE at MidOhio on Oct 19-21? Could be close, given the need for more break-in time and servicing....I need to get in 700 miles before servicing.
What's the DE? I may be interested

Here's my take (also just a guess, but it kills sometime waiting for our cars!):

- "Customes release"; I read an article about the VDC, and it said the customs release happens while the cars are still on the boat (i.e., the paperwork part; the physical inspection happens later at the port) - presumably once the ship enters US waters?

- "Liner Release"; could occur at docking when the bill of lading for the car is transferred from WW to whomever it it that unloads the cars from the ship.

- "Discharged"; time when the car was actually off-loaded from the ship.

- "Delivered from"; might be when the car was received into customs.

Again, all this is just my guess. But I think there is less than a 1% chance that the "Discharged" or "Delivered from" entries that popped up today mean the car has cleared customs - way too quick for that to happen from what I've heard about the process. But hey, you never know.

Finally! Different sequence from the deliveries in NY.

Good news Sam! Any word yet on where your oil pump repair will take place and when?

I was informed last week that my car is going to the plant in Spartanburg for the repair work.

So the tracking info on mine only says Discharged. I thought these would move through the steps a lot quicker. I am wondering if I got bunched in with all the other new cars coming from the Welt to the PCD. So far, not looking good for a pick up anytime soon

It will take a day or two for it to show the delivered option. Don't worry the NJ port moves quickly.

Finally, an update. Called BMW Special Services and they were able to track down my car, she said it was at the VPC in Georgia. She confirmed that the VPC had all the parts needed for the repair and that customs clearance, processing, and oil pump repair would all be completed with an ETA of the 5th. She then said that the car will be released to the PC and they would schedule my pickup. I'm hoping by the 15th when I get back in country.

Do you know the number for BMW special services? all of the BMW NA numbers have people who know nothing.

This is the number I dialed: 1-800-932-0831. They only know stuff about Military and ED and other "Special Delivery" situations.

I didn't call because it was for special services as you mentioned. I am a regular order and not ED or in those other categories so I didn't call

Trying to wrassle info out of my dealer who seems to always know most but is very slow on responding

Was your car repaired at VPC or at the dealership?

Repaired at the VPC. They're moving quick - at 11:00 my CA said my car was being repaired as we speak, at 2:30 it was loaded on a truck and at 5:30 it was at my dealership.

My CAs contact at the VPC said that BMW NA mandated that all cars at or passing through the VPC will be repaired at the VPC.

That's awesome!! Hopefully that happens, I have heard nothing but dealer fixes them all. Maybe that's why my car is still at the VPC ?!

Yes, per my earlier posts my car was delivered to my dealer Thursday evening and I picked it up Friday afternoon.

Cool! Sorry I missed that. I called special services again and they now confirmed work started on my car at the VPC this morning. They are hoping it is released to trucking by the end of the day today or tomorrow, depending on how much work they have to do. Hopefully they can schedule my PCD then.
