Interesting. But I kind of like it! All I see around here are black on black on black on black....so this is refreshing.

How much does a "frozen" paint job cost? I know MB's designo lines can range from 3-5k.

Just got my first chance to find out about the individual paint cost for the M5 here in Canada. There as a frozen white M5 parked inside the dealer, while looking at its spec sheet, I was shocked to see they charge $9850 for the paint alone.

This looks like frozen Sakhir orange.

I saw a Frozen Fire Orange X6 over the weekend. It definitely stood out.

Wow! Sure a cool look but sticker/asking price from the dealer on that car is $112k...I wonder if it was a special order someone backed out of?

I am 99.99999% sure this is frozen Sakhir Orange. For the frozen colors, they "round off" the color to the next closest thing.
Frozen Black is frozen sapphire black
Frozen gray is frozen space gray
etc.

My point was; the paint is Sakhir Orange exterior color paint with matte clear coat.

The sticker shows $15,400 for the frozen paint.

Yep these are the special edition frozen M3s
For 15.400$ you get a few more options outside the frozen paint

Package includes
-BMW Individual Frozen Red, White, or Blue exterior paint
-Competition Package including:
-Matte black 19" light alloy wheels
-Electronic Damper Control
-Lowered suspension (-10 mm)
-Sport mapping for EDC and DSC
-Premium Package
-Black Extended Novillo leather with contrast stitching in exterior color on seats,

JMH, I am thinking about purchasing the ///M performance carbon fiber trim kit and see from your signature block that you had it installed.

Since it is special order, dealer doesn't stock it and i am reluctant to buy it in case it looks cheesy like the earlier iterations of carbon fiber have been across all manufacturers.

What's your impression? Do you have any photos to help me make up my mind?

I think the trim does look good (but everyone's tastes are different0, the quality is outstanding and it is holding up very well. No scratches/marks on the trim/clear coat.
Only thing to be aware is that if you DCT in your M5 there's no center console available , you will get a center console for either a manual or automatic (depending on which kit you ordered) but it's not going to help you
If you want the center console in CF too you'd have to contact IND as they can supply you with a custom made center console which matches the OEM CF trim.

You mean the set you want to install is for a 6 series ?
There's an OEM kit for the M6 which also has a CF console (also factory option)

I believe IND will sell you the entire set , contact Nate@IND and he can answer all your questions regarding pricing/availability etc

No sorry, I was speculating as to why the CF console kit from BMW does not fit it if is specifically for the M5.

BTW, how do you like your Akra exhaust?

I'm going to clear this up. You do not get all of the packages included. The 15k is solely for the paint job and contrast stitching. The comp package is something you have to pay for. I work for a dealership. I have a monroney that will prove my point.

BMW just has no plans to produce a CF console for DCT equipped cars.
The console of the 6 won't fit the M5 either.
Technically the CF kit is for all F10 and in the parts database there are 3 different numbers (manual, automatic and "sport" automatic) but none of them work for the DCT .
According to BMW the reason why they don't build a DCT console is because it's too difficult given the small surface around the DCT .

I like the Akra exhaust, it's a work of art and not too loud.
Supplements the car well.

Well all of the 150 frozen edition cars will come with the package outlined above....
