Alright everyone! Go get some popcorn and get ready to enjoy some entertainment.

The roads and weather were perfect down in Mexico for our races. Our M5's couldn't have been more of a perfect match for racing. I mean we both have stock suspension with the 20" 343 wheels. I have 15,000 miles on my tires and Niko414 has 17,000 miles on his tires.

I can personally attest to the fact that the Switzer Tune is the real deal. A very good product for a piggyback style tune that is easy to take on and off. I almost don't even want to think about what this tune would be like on my Full Straightpiped M5. Lol! Enjoy!

You be the judge and let us know what you think.

Wow. Awesome vids guys. The tune is no joke since the black downpipe car walks a stock car. The leap from stock to Switzer is a big one.

Nice video! I suppose the next video will be after RPiM5 gets a tune...

It seems like the tune with a normal exhaust is crazy fast and livable as a daily driver?

Any 1/4 mile times with tune reported?

Great comparison. The tune seems to be more for geared for the high side bit still works good on the low. At least we know an American tune works and that's great. Daves down pipes are no joke as it adds much needed power also and really brought out the sounds of the tt. Sounds great. Now we gave to wait for someone up there to compare against the euro charged tune.

Switzer tunes the torque curve for the GT-R so that it is a nice ramp up, not an early peak that then falls off. This has been saving the engines since the GT-R stock rods are prone to bending when the torque is too high and ramps up too quickly. I suspect their tune for the M5 resembles that torque curve also.

Great real world testing, thanks to both of you for taking the trouble to do it!

I live about 260 miles from Switzer and perhaps I'll have to take a drive one of these days. I emailed them through their website some months ago to ask about the exhaust they'd just developed, but never heard back. Time to try again.

What do you mean by this? Are you saying it can be installed and removed by self?

Yes. Plug and play. Easily removed before a service.

I drove one today. I'm quite impressed. Very linear and non-intrusive. Really felt the extra torque and boost at 5k RPM to redline.

Good that it can be removed. But I'm sure it's detectable. One of my colleagues had a removable piggyback tune on his 135i, and at some point he had a camshaft breakage or something like that (I don't remember how he described it but a physical engine component broke). He said BMW refused to cover it because the ECU log told them he'd been messing with the tune.

Shame BMW doesn't release a tune like this.

This tune is fantastic and priced right. If I could get over my concerns about warranty and car resale value risk, I would buy it.

Niko, did Switzer mention anything about their tune being able to manage a catless downpipe and defeat the CEL from that? I am definitely going with a catless DP and would like to avoid the nuisance of the CEL.

I think Ive spoken with several of you about the F series chasis and how the definitions are not yet broken thus the ability to bypass the cel is still in the works. Im still not 100% in on the piggy back tune since there is not 100% manipulation of timing and air fuel to compensate for the boost bump.

As for the runs, great job with the vids and Nick your car is running strong. As I thought, the down low tq would get you some tire chatter and Dave did pull early in your dig vids.

I wish you had met up with me on the way down to HRE- we had some good open space to see how bad you car would beat me (I was not the stock M6 he ran).

Absolutely guys there is some risk involved but without risk there is no reward

I own the car outright and if warranty is voided or it blows oh well, but that is just me.

I also ran stage 2 ( or something like that) weistec tuned e63 with larger turbos, down pipes and tune Ran him twice headed down to HRE and he only got me by a car and half both times. Everyone was in shock including E63 driver. We have it on video will post shortly. Two rolls 60-130

Vic we need to catch up!!
