Windscreen Replacement

Hey all !

The news here in the UK constantly talk of bad roads, potholes and increased windscreen damage. I listened, but never really took note.

I do now.

"A" road... with potholes... and a truck the opposite way = Star crack, centre passenger side... with growing little spider legs...

Just had Autoglass out to repair (£100 excess, no impact to No Claims)... BUT... and it is a big one. They can only source the windscreen from BMW as it has all the HUDS, cameras, sensors etc... and guess what ? BMW UK does not have any. None. Zippo.

Autoglass is awaiting BMW UK's response. BMW UK is in contact with Germany. I assume when they said that, they meant BMW Germany... and not just Germany in general.

Anyone else have to swap out the windscreen, and run into issues ???

I had mine swapped out about a month ago. Got a bunch of rock chips in it from one of the rally's I participated in. I'm in the US and it took about a week to get the windshield. Cost me $1300.

there's a good chance yours was from the same batch mine came from. We actually ordered 3 windshield and watch them race each other to the US . Apparently it didn't make a difference . All made it in at the same time.
Also made no difference ordering the US/OEM or the European climate comfort windshield

I fitted one (OEM) about three weeks ago.

How big is/was the damage? Did they repair it?

Replaced mine this spring. They ordered the wrong one at first, but the correct one arrived in less than a week.

Canada.
