M performance exhaust

Got it installed last Friday and I love the sound. As some members have noted it's not very loud inside, but the change in tone is simply wonderful! The tips are a lot bigger than I thought, in fact it's big enough to fit over the stock exhaust tips without touching.

Thanks guys! Sound bites don't do it justice. I started my quest by watching the following video.....

I'm sure my iPhone won't reveal it's true character. But, I'll try to post a video of the cold start-up tomorrow.

looks great, does it sound louder inside than the stock exhaust? I know you said it's not very loud inside, but do you think it adds a more sporty sound/character than the stock exhaust?

Thanks,

Absolutely! I always drive in sport plus/sport/sport D1 or D3, and even in D1 I can hear the exhaust quite clearly. I always thought the Cp sport exhaust sounded flat, but the MPE suits the character of the car.

Sorry guys, what's the M Performance exhaust? Where can I buy it? It looks and sounds sick! The tips in the M5 and the M6 are just embarrassing.

You can pick it up from the forum sponsors or at the dealer. It's a rebadged akra titanium exhaust with M specific tips. It sells for $7-8k. It's not the loudest on the market but gives the M a great bump in sound, a new tone, and it's lighter than the stock system.

Hi, is the M Performance Exhaust, exactly the same titanium exhaust with very slightly difference carbon tips as the Akrapovic exhaust??

is the MPE considerably louder that the competition pack sports exhaust? should I wait for delivery of my comp pack new car and hear the sports exhaust or change it to the Akra or MPE before delivery?

It's louder, but in IMO not by much. The biggest difference in the change in tone. I've always thought the sport exhaust sounded flat, then again the way an exhaust sounds is subjective.

After the MPE was installed at the dealership, all the car guys gathered to see how it sounded. There was a smile on all their faces!

I would wait to hear your comp pack sports exhaust first. Its definitely louder than standard, and cracks and pops more. The MPE is great, but, imho, way too much money.

I agree, M5essex should wait to hear what the sport exhaust sounds like before making the leap. Its so subjective.

Thanks for your sound advice. I may cheat and buy some carbon tips to go over the CP exhaust instead
