New M5 owner with one of the last M5's

Hi Guys

Having gone from 2 wheels (BMW 1200GSA) to have some fun to a 2011 Z4 in mid 2015 that had a few issues, I ended up buying a new Z4's in March 2016 that I specked up to my requirements.

I love the drive of the Z4 but it is really only a weekend toy for me with my main driver being a Discovery 4, or so it was until Dec 23rd a few months ago.

I attended a polishing day at a local detailer and there was an M3 and M4 present. The owner of the M4 was chatting to me and mentioned BMW offered a convertible so the next day I was off to my local dealer to see one in the flesh.

My plan was to possibly trade the Z4 for a new M4 depending on the price to change - that plan was very quickly blown out of the water as despite paying £37,000 in March 2016 they only offered me £20,000 against a new M4!! Now granted the Z4 was heavily reduced at £37,000 from £49,000 when I bought it but the deal was just a none starter due to the price difference and loss suffered on the Z4.

The dealer noticed I was in my Disco 4 and said he could do a good deal on that as it was winter and 4x4's were in high demand and a very good price was offered, but that would leave me with 2 convertible cars so yet again that was a none starter.

I was leaving the showroom when I spotted at the back a pre-reg M5 that had a price on the window and stated "over £30,000 off the new price" and I asked the salesman about it.

He said the dealership had bought 7 new M5's from BMW with permission to pre-reg all 7 and then sell on at a very much reduced price whilst also obtaining a heavy discount off BMW that could also be passed on. After much negotiation he offered me a price to change and the deal was done and I took delivery of my M5 on the 23rd Dec 2016 and have loved every minute since.

She is a very highly specked car and here are a few pics;

Although, I'm glad I chose a black interior with a newborn - I'm still jealous of anyone with a Silverstone interior. It looks really impressive!

Many thanks for your comments - the baby wipes are for her in doors in case I put my foot down too much in the wet, which is quite often at the moment, and results in lots of opposite lock lol

The M5 is in standard trim other than a coating of Ceramic Pro to help protect the paintwork, oh and to help me wash it - hate washing a car but the coating means a quick snow foam and jet was and she is done

Not thinking of adding or changing bits as I kind of like the car in its standard trim - been looking at some on here that seem to spend as much on add-on bits as the car costs which is cool but not for me.

Have to say it was not my first choice but as the car was a pre-reg I had very or no option

Dealer said they would apply some kind of protective coating but also said for as long as I owned the car they would clean the leather every week if needed - not held them to that yet but will do in the future
