Yeah the gains aren't no where near as high as I thought they would be. Akra being a top notch company I am going on a limb to say that the gains are so small because BMW did such a great job in the first place with the stock system. Still 8k for an exhaust is big bucks

Definitely don't do it then. Next time your radio stops working, or the pixels on the instrument cluster go out, the dealer's going to blame your Akrapovic exhaust system for causing the failure. It's definitely not worth the risk.

S65Power, Hate to correct you but the "holly$#@!" comment was not from the driver. It was from me in the passenger seat. I meant the "rolls" comment in the most positive way, that pace car turned like nothing I have ever been it. The other rider was questioning if it was as fast as the M3, the pace car driver believed the M5 was fast in a lap time.

As for the sound, Jason has a half a dozen sound clips I gave him, all sound great. I plan on ordering a set from Nate and team.

Akra exhausts lack any tone. The stock exhaust sounds much better then this, I think.

low power gains do not justify the price.. same goes for the gruppem intake.. ill wait til next year before buying any performance mods..

The exhaust as everyone knows looks great and build quality that no one thinks twice about.. One thing I am seeing is everyone is looking at the peak gain, if you look at the total power gain you can see the HP difference between 5,000-6000 rpm and torque as low as 2500 between the factory and Akra system for example. I do agree though it could be on the louder side but once cats are replaced with high flow units who knows how it could sound.

This car needs more aural character. It doesn't need any more power. I ordered a set of this and can't wait for it to arrive. The power gain and weight loss is a bonus as far as i am concerned.

Does anyone else have dyno runs yet? I'm disapointed in seeing all the valleys in the torque curve, stock or modded. I loved the long flat torque curve of the e39 M5, and no big drop off at high RPMs either.

PS: No, I wouldn't spend $8K just for this exhaust.

On closer examination, the torque side is not the same scale as the HP side. This magnifies the peaks and valleys, and makes the gains look more impressive than they actually are.

I'd want to see an SAE HP, ft/lb chart all at 0 relative.

I wouldn't buy a Chinese version for 5% of the cost of an Akra system.

I prefer my titanium from Slovenia.

I think the tone is much better...however, the gains in terms of power is disappointing. Maybe BMW's exhaust isn't that restrictive? Just kind've expected to see more HP from an aftermarket exhaust that's being put on a twin-turbo v8 motor.
