High mileage f10 vs low mileage e60
As the title says, im currently at a enthusiast owned 2009 m5 with 36,5xx miles for around $29.5k. High mileage f10 2013 around 76k miles can be had around $35-36k. I don't know much about early release f10s.

Hey, I almost have the same question as you, you can look at my post regarding a similar question.
http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1499787 Basically, the F10 is: -faster -better handling (stock) -more tech (bluetooth audio etc) -more quiet and refined -less direct steering -somewhat more reliable engine -better audio (Bang and Olufsen) -newer -DCT (can be good or bad) -sleeper -big community -last manual (though i dont think it fits the car's character) -girls probably like this car more The E60 is: -V10 -8250 RPM redline -direct hydraulic steering -SMG (can be good or bad as in insane when driving fast, but horrible through town) -car is a ticking maintenance time bomb - Rod bearings, clutch, throttle actuators, electronics etc -debatable looks -F1 sounding exhaust -sleeper -somewhat big community -probably appreciate a bit with low milage car -horrible MPG -small gas tank -thick viscosity engine oil ---> long time until car is warmed -V10 -V10 -V10 -V10 Hope this helps. I am an owner of a 2006 E60 M5 with 33k miles. I probably know more about E60's than F10's but this is the gist of it for the E60. Last edited by werdn; 06-06-2018 at 10:49 PM.. |

I like werdn's summary. You didn't say what is important to you.
BMWs are not cheap to own, particularly 5s or Ms, and this is M5. If your on a tight budget, this may not be s good fit. |

If you want to have more fun, better visceral driving experience the E60 is the car.
However, if you want the more reliable car with the much improved tranny then F10 is the one for you. I always felt the E60 was a ticking time bomb...

I like being more connected to the car, i had an e46 m3 about two years ago. It won’t be a daily driver, more for pleasure/weekend car with the wife yet having that nice/sporty car that will catch peoples attention

I have the both a drive them back to back on a regular basis. The E60 is the more visceral car. The last of it’s kind and total blast to drive. It’s also insanely expensive to maintain and gets the gas mileage of a supertanker.

I'm telling you...at 37k miles, that's a rare car. SMG or not, this car will hold value. The SMG "issues" are overblown. Just like the rod bearings issue with these motors, a $3k investment back into this car fixing the bearings and SMG will go a long way.
I say at this price, it's a no brainier, get the E60 |
