Yes i think this is a good idea.

Although can I just ask if its normal to need oil every 1000 miles. I seem to be burning oil fast.

Fraid NOT, mine has used None in 3600 miles.

Probably a break in issue. I'm on my third one and none of them have burned oil.

Try owning a pre-facelift E39 M5. Mine is a litre every 800km. And that shit is $14/L.
I went about 4000km (hard 4000km) before topping up the F10.
