Not really a fair race - especially from a roll. Was there a passenger in the M5 also? Seems the camera was being held by a passenger in the 991.
I'd like to see this race with a 991 TTS and Panamera Turbo. Those would be interesting. BTW - maybe this video didn't show it that well, but people say the PDK is the fastest dual clutch tranny out there - in this vid the shifts seemed slower than those in my M5 under full throttle. These seemed almost mushy in comparison - at least by the sound.

Damn!!! I have both cars (991 is 7-speed Manual so it is .3 slower 0-60) and when I drive the Porsche it feels slow because the M5 is so fast. Love both those cars.

I raced a 991.2 in MT with my MT M5 and it was closer than that. I had him beat but not by much.

Wow, nice race.
Yeah not really a fair match, but that is saying something for a 4,400lbs sedan. A couple of points I'd like to make though. How much does the 991(911( Carrera 2S weigh again? I think it's under 3,300lbs right? So essentially same weight as the new M4. Carrera 2S would be down by about 30hp and by about 75tq compared to the M4. If BMW did not under rate the M4 (which I'm sure they did), then it might be a closer race to a stock M5. Also based on this video, in the straight line, I think the 991 GT3 would be a little faster or dead even with the M5. Now throw Comp Pack, Exhaust, Catless Downpipes, and say the BMS tune on the M5 and I wonder what the results would be against even a 991 TT or TTS. Stock for stock the 991 TT would be much faster than a stock M5, the TTS, the M5 would get demolished. And just for fun. I'll post this.

People, you can not compare a N.A to a Turbo car. I don't remember how many times iv said this. The gap in torque and horsepower between the two cars is unfair. That's like comparing the e60 m5 vs the f10 m5. You can do that because it's a different world. Let's not forget your comparing a sports car vs a luxury boat. I love my M5, but you can compare the two.
If you want to compare and be fair, do it turbo to a turbo. Plus, let's see how the C2S compares to the M5 in turns. Oh, you also can slightly compare the new M3/M4 with a C2S, but once again, it's not fair because it is not apples to apples comparison. Turbo vs N.A, the turbo has a much higher advantage. |

There is also one other thing to consider, and that is weight difference between the GT3 RS 4.0 and the M5 in the video... |

My prediction is that M4 will beat Carrera 2S in the straight-line, but C2S will beat M4 on the track.

There's a 1267 lbs difference also. 4387 lbs vs 3120 lbs. WOW.

I think it'll be a close race on the track also. I can't wait for some real numbers.

Exactly brotha, that's my point. What makes people think that a car that is 1,267lbs lighter with 400hp and 315tq won't beat a stock F10 M5 and a car that is ~900lbs lighter with 425hp and 405tq will beat a stock F10 M5? Especially when all cars have DCT.
Like I've said before I've beaten 135i's and 1///M's making over 450hp in my stock F10 M5 in both a rolling race and from a dig.

I guess that's what +160hp gets you.

I need to reach out to Vic and see if he wants to do a little friendly run with his TTS.
I am pretty sure I will have to take a beating.

Don't tell him about your DPs and BMS Stage 1. *Wink wink* Regardless - 991TTS can lay down a 10.6s 1/4 mile stock at ~128mph (source: http://www.porsche**********/content...-run-10-63-128) Terry's BMW Stage 1 tuned 2014 F10 M5 did around 11.4. We have no chance.
