Lowering

Interested in lowering, I'm in New York so I won't go extremely low but I do want to close that gap between the wheels and the fender/quater panel. I'm think 1"-1.5" would be good?

What springs would be good, what else would I need to change when changing the springs?

H&R is the perfect drop for the m5 imo.

KW HAS is great IMO. Fully adjustable and superior ride quality vs. H&R and other fixed height springs.

KW HAS is the way to go. I made the mistake of going H&R, then to Eibach. But I like my Eibach's way more than the H&R's.

I also say go with KW HAS. I have them and love them

@TheHouseWon, I didn't install mine but I don't think it would be too difficult with the right tools and space. Getting the ride height where you want it seems like it would be a little bit of a PITA without a lift.

Thanks. Is there a ratio used for dropping front and rear or is it 1:1. Example: if you drop .8" in the front, do you have to drop .8" in the back? Or should it be less in the rear?

Has anyone consider Dinan's suspension kit for the F10 M5?

It appears to be similar to KW HAS with similar adjustments, warranty, and priced about the same.

See my recent post regarding recent install on KW HAS. Highly recommend KW HAS with the adjustability. We get snow here in WA state and will be nice to raise when/if needed in winter months as she is my daily. Final pics at end a nd measurements my shop went with for desired stance. http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1360003

I appreciate all the opinions, answers & suggestions. Being that everyone is saying KW HAS, that's what I'm going with.

Anyone on here selling?

How do you adjust the heights - is it a simple/quick process? I am on comp pack springs but could always use a little more in the summer!

I don't know what my initial measurements were, I'll ask. The rears dropped after a couple of weeks and I didn't like it that low. My final adjustments is from fender to top lip of OEM wheel on stock 20" tires, front 24 1/4" and rear 24 1/2". Shop that did install did re-adjustment and another alignment.

I have no idea. I tried to peek when they were re-adjusting but I couldn't tell you exactly what they were doing.

Lowering also increases the vulnerability of some pretty expensive components to debris lying the road
2 Oil coolers
Engine sump and lower crankshaft housing
DCT sump and housing
Catalyzers
Exhaust
Differential housing
Front and rear suspension

Only takes half an inch too little clearance to do tens of thousands of $$$ worth of damage

KW HAS all the way. I did the installation myself and wished I would have paid someone to do it for me. You can certainly do it yourself if you are handy, however it is a lot of work.

Me? Personally I wouldn't go lower than a standard Competition Pack which I believe is 10cm lower than the standard M5

Every car I've owned has been lowered with no issues outside of some bushings I needed to replace on an Audi S6. Not disagreeing with SteveC about some dangers but you just need to be careful.

Not unlike being careful when you have nice wheels
