CPO question
Hey guys. I just picked up my 2013 M5 last weekend. In the glove box I found CPO mailing from the previous owner. Looks like he bought the car as a CPO and only put 10k miles on it in 2 years before selling it. I did not buy it from him, but at least I have his name and the card.
Is there any way to find out what coverage he purchased and if I can get in transferred if still active? My first thought is to check with my local dealer, but they may jerk me around to get out of it, too. All of this is probably a stretch, but worth checking IMO. Thanks |

It's only transferable for private party sale or the car has to be sold as cpo by a BMW dealership.
https://cpo.bmwusa.com/Content/docs/...pplication.pdf Edit: To clarify, BMW changed its policy a while back on CPO transfers. If you bought the car from a non BMW dealer you won't be able to transfer the warranty. Last edited by DL7; 10-11-2018 at 05:44 AM.. |

Thanks. I'll confirm with them, but 99% sure I won't be able to get anything then.
Loosely thinking about a 3rd party warranty. Lots of research to commence first though. |

Check if the turbo coolant lines and anything injector or fuel delivery related has been done. If so, then you may want to consider not getting a warranty. These cars are much better built than the E60's.

Fyi, there is an extended factory warranty 10 years/120,000 miles on a lot of cars for high pressure fuel pumps and injectors. A dealer can tell you if this applies to your car.
