Ah! Something between the dust shield and the brake...

AHHH!

OK, so I have / am experiencing the "something stuck between the brake dust shield and the brake disc"/"tin can rattling" symptom when backing up 3 times of the last 5 times I have backed out of the garage.

Don't hear it going forward.

I've tapped and shook and pushed back the dust shield but nothing has fall out yet. I'm away from home so I don't have my inspection tool or things to take the tire off with for a better hide-and-go-seek mission.

Any advise on places to look for it to be hanging in there?

Drive slowly and pump the brakes hard, it'll release the pebble

thanks!

I went to an empty parking lot and did tight circles left at speed and tight circles right at speed in mdm. Then forward maybe 30 feet, brake, hard reverse 30 ft, brake, etc.

Never got it to shake out. Isolated in all that effort to driver side rear. Drove to lowes, got a paint stirrer, and pop the shield by putting the edge against the shield and the rotor and popping out away from the rotor.

Finally got the little booger!
