Looking to trade m5 for a f80 m3

Do you guys think I should get rid of the m5
For a m3 I don’t know I
Love the m5 I feel like it’s too big this is at after
Coming out of my 997 turbo I feel like this car is a boat
But I don’t know if I would love the m3

I have both and if I have to part with one, it would be the F80 M3 .

the F80 feels cheap and engine sounds like shit IMO. If you're going to do M3 look for an E90 and have some fun with that S65

I just sold my F80 and bought an F10. I'd have to say the M3 held it's value much better than the M5. The M5 was a real value fully loaded for $42k (2013 40k miles). The ride on the F80 is really stiff and rides low. The engine doesn't sound great, and upgraded exhaust is required.

I love the M5, but it is very big compared to a 997. My next car will likely be a 991.2 turbo.

I feel the same way. I currently drive a 2013 F10 M5 and only owned it for 8 months but don't feel so connected to it, already looking to get something else. I do feel its big!

My last few cars were a B8S4, GT-R, EVO 9. I even owned a 2003 RS6 and it felt better to drive. I was also looking at a F80 M3 or even back to B8.5 S4.

I went the other direction. Came to an M5 from an F80. The F80 felt cheaper, not as nice, doesn't feel that much smaller, almost just as numb in the steering, and sounds like total crap.

And it doesn't throw you back in your seat as hard as the M5.

My M5 felt like a boat when i first got it as well. However, either i've just gotten use to the weight or after modding and installing KW HAS Kit I just dont notice the weight as much anymore. The power is so brutal now that i forget its a big fat family sedan. If you don't need a sedan why even buy a m5??? so many other cars out there that's lighter not faster but lighter. Z06 as TrevorM3 is one of those cars which is the most bang for the buck. If you do need a sedan then after a few key mods (more power) it will appear much lighter.

You can never hide the extra 1300-1400lbs our M5's carry around vs a true sports car like a Z06 or 911. I've always felt the M5 was the ultimate sports car for the guy who needs 4 doors and a decent back seat.

Z06/911/etc are true sports cars and the M3 is for the guy who is lost in between.

I thought about what I would do next after I swapped my M3 with a M6. I would never go to a F8X M3/4. If I were going to stay with a M but go with a lighter car, I would do a E9X M3 or a E85 Z4M or even a E46 M3 or a 1M.

If you want a similar 997 turbo feel, really the only car I can think of today on the market would be a AMG GT(s/r).

But frankly if I had a 997.2 turbo, I would have stayed with it. 997.1 turbo...debatable if I would have moved to a M5/6.
