My car has low miles, about 20k after close to 3 years. I did have an incident with the fuel pump where completely unexpected, it just died. Replaced free of charge but had to be towed, etc. I was stranded for about 3 hours.

That was under warranty and I am not sure that you'll be able to get a warranty at 80,000 miles...

I'd shoot for a low mileage car at about 25-40,000 miles, get a warranty and drive with some peace of mind.

on the other hand, if you feel that there is a lot of deferred maintenance on the E60, best come up with plan to address each problem and keep looking for a low mileage F10 bargain. I'd hate to see you buy such a high mileage car.

Recommendation! You know your e60 M5 in and out!,...and once it's gone,...it's gone! I'd recommend getting the F10 before selling the e60! This way, you will know for sure if you want to part with the awesome V10. Note, as different as they are,....both bring major strengths to the table.

The F10 is buttery smooth,...and as many have stated,...the power rush,...ahhh, make that, the "Torque" rush is crazy anywhere - any gear - all the time!

Now, for the e60, the V10's sound track is worth its weight in gold laced diamond dust! You will not drive a better sounding car! Although the e60 is quite smooth,...to me when cruising the highway,....it's a little rougher around the edges,....it's the bull in the china shop!,...and as you know, it doesn't care jack crap about china!

I highly suggest that you find a way to get the F10 before selling the e60! Afterall, you will have no problem selling a solid and well maintained e60 M5. The question is,...should you want to return to the e60 mark, will you find another as solid as your car has been.

As for a high mileage F10,...I'd first stay away from modified cars!,...and look for something around 50k'ish on the clock! And since the audio system is of great concern for you,...then an M5 with the B&O sound system is what you want! Your ears will light up light track lights!

Oh! I nearly forgot to mention,...the first thing you will notice is the fuel mileage improvement of the F10 over the e60. Anyone will tell you that the e60 is nowhere near the F10's MPG capability! But then again,...who buys an M5 and have concerns of its MPGs?

All-the-same, good luck!

Do you think that it is the lack of engine note?

I think so

The f10 is a monster but lack of occasion

I would say the car choice also depends on your personality

I tend to like things a little over the top and how i feel is important when driving. Now being fastest or latest does not always equate to a pleasurable experience
