A call for your help

First of all, apologies If I am not allowed to post something like this on here but here goes anyway.

So…

I have now started my IRONMAN taper and in just under 2 weeks time I hope to be able to say “I am an IRONMAN”. This has been quite a journey for me which I started some time ago following some life changing events; it has taken me 5 years to get to the point where I believe I am just about ready to take on the hardest sporting challenge of my life and I have had and continue to have some real inspiration and motivation that has been behind me all along from my amazing hero of a son Theo, my amazing wife Laura Bailey and the most inspirational doctor I have ever had the pleasure to meet, Simon Gabe.

Since just January of this year I have….

Lost nearly 15Kg
Cycled nearly 4000 miles
Run 600 miles
Swam nearly 100 miles
Climbed twice the height of Everest

Ive had some amazing experiences over the last 5 years having completed over 20 triathalons, completed the MEGA AVALANCHE twice and qualified to represent Great Britain in the world amateur cycling championships but the IRONMAN will really be the pinnacle and it has always been about this single race.

Whilst last year, I finished the IRONMAN 70.3, I have still never run more than 19 miles in one go let along doing all of the cycling and swimming before hand so on July 17th I take on one of the hardest IRONMAN courses on the circuit, up in Bolton for the IRONMAN UK where I will cover the following distances and hope to finish in under 17 hours (God help me!)

3.8km swim
180km cycle
42km run ( a bloody marathon!)
