Trunk Mats

Are our trunks identical to-say-a 550i? I have 2014 M5, and would think so, but want to make sure before ordering something. I'm thinking about ordering a Lloyd carpeted trunk mat, but want to make sure of this. Thanks.

BMW sells a rubber trunk mat.

BMW used to sell an M5 carpet trunk mat for my E60 M5. I think now a days IND sells M5 logo trunk mat.

I want carpet. IND says there is no carpeted trunk mat from BMW, just rubber. So, I need to know if the trunks are the same.

Same size. I have the rubber mat. Much better than carpet in my opinion. Prevents stuff from sliding and protects from spills.

Speaking of preventing stuff from sliding, I just bought and used this yesterday. Its part number is 51-47-0-010-557, costs $65 and works for groceries! Even to and from the market there is potential for spirited driving, and when there is a load of various containers, some breakable, crushable, or otherwise possibly damaged from sliding around in the trunk, this helps a lot. It is stretchable and will expand to cover the trunk from side to side if there are items it is covering.

I agree with you. I also have the rubber mat and it's very useful and protects the stuff. Furthermore it has a rubber protective mat on its back side that you can put over the rear spoiler to protect it from scratches while loading things in the trunk.

Speaking of accessories.. why does BMW steal half the crap out of our trunk boxes before giving us the car. I think were missing warning triangle, med kit, and a door tool.

I don't think it's BMW, it all the hands the car passes through in between. I recall during my ED the delivery person specifically told me to carry anything that was not nailed down with me on the plane and not to leave it in the car or it likely would disappear. She even suggested I take the floor mats! Since the items you referenced are not required by law to be in a new car in the US BMW does not replace them.
