Tire size query

Hi guys,

I posted this in the wheel and tire sections yesterday but haven't gotten any responses and since this part of the forum seems more active, I thought I'd post it here as well. I will copy and paste my original post.

Hi guys,

I contemplating getting a 2015 M5. I will be getting rid of my 2018 540i xDrive for one. I ended up a second winter/highway vehicle, so I don't care for AWD and all that anymore as much.

I have Michelin winter tires that I had on the 540 and would like to throw on the M5 for occasional driving as well. The tires are 245 35 R20. It's a square set-up. The rims on the M5 are the 20" rims these cars came with and has Carbon Ceramic Brakes as well. Would my winter tires fit the rims of the M5?

Thanks for all the help. I was going to have the winters on the 540 this evening but then I got this idea of swapping the car in my head so I am kind of holding off on that for now, but the sooner someone can help me out the better. Thanks in advance!

From my experience the w/tyres you are planning to fit to the 20'' 343m's (I presume they will be the standard M5 ones) are far too narrow for the rears.295 is correct size with 305's being acceptable also and putting 245's on these would be inadvisable with the sidewalls worryingly not sitting right if the thin w/tyre can even be mounted at all.

Thank you for the response. Since I am not too familiar with the rim codes I thought I'd post a picture of the wheels the car currently has so we can have a more accurate idea;

They look like the wheels of an M5 Competition which are also 20'' (575 bhp). The rimage size on those wheels 601M are 9.5J front and 10.5J rear. The normal M5 (560 bhp) 343M,9J front 10J rear with similar offset just a different 5 double spoke design on the normal M5 F10.
Both sets of wheels run the same 265 35 20 front,295 30 20 rear summer standard tyre sizes.
