Dp w/cel verses inspection

Have any of you who installed dp and got a cel had your vehicle inspected yet for your new sticker. And if so did you pass/fail.

So nobody has gotten their inspection yet w their downpipes? Maybe it's too early. I've had my car one year now. Maybe that's why.

You will absolutely not pass Texas state inspection with a check engine light on. Especially with a catalyst below threshold fault due to downpipes! lol.

Agreed I live here so that's very true. I wonder what others are going to do. That's partly why I still haven't done anything yet for my purchase.

Too early for me, but I will definitely put the oem ones back on.
Luckily I can do it myself and save $800 in labor.

I paid $300 for the install. Who's charging $800? It was money we'll spent too! No way I would have pulled that off alone.

Few shops around here. It honestly wasn't as bad as you might think. I did it in my garage using jack stands.

Yes but I think it would be a pain to switch em out just to get the emissions done. I can do the work myself but hopefully between my wk schedule. Right now I'm too busy getting off wk close to dark. Xmas/New Years will be spent flowing a gas well. Agreed over 300 is a ripoff. Those guys ate just taking advantage if. Situation and perhaps they don't know how to fix it properly.

I still have one to get the inspection. But it seemed to me that no one thought that. Yes I gave to find a friendly shop or spend the big bucks like spiny did

No they don't. Not for cars that are OBDII. That's only for older cars.

You can't clear the faults before an inspection because it resets the emissions monitors on your car (catalyst monitoring, EVAP, O2 monitoring, etc).

Yeah lol. It will get better once the real tunes come out for the F10 M5. Maybe in the next millennium? I kid, I kid, but serious it's been too long. Once it does come out I'm sure some tuners will be able to trick the monitoring systems like they're able to do for the E39/E60 M5s.

The issue is the encryption on our ECU's right?

If this forum pools together $20,000 and posts a reward for cracking the encryption on our F10 M5 ECU, I bet it would be cracked within a month.

Promote the offer to one of the major tech blogs and people would start cracking at it. In the end the winner would be some kid with a beard in their parents basement with bawls energy drinks all over the place.

Who wants to put up the $20k? Then turn it around to a tuning company for 3 times that.

It's only 2 or 3 Akra exhausts

The problem is they would need access to an F10 M5 to test. Then if something goes wrong, you're in for new ECU's (ask IND).
