Competition Package worth $7,300?

Hi Guys,

Do you think that Competition Package is worth $7,300?

I only got the chance to try M5 with Competition Package, I really cant find any without one.

Anyone has experience with both?

I will maybe track my car once or twice per year.
I will drive mostly on the highway and some city.

Thanks

Any 20" wheel upgrade will cost you 1.3k and if you're going to lower it, let's say 1k. then it's more like 5k upgrade.

More direct steering wheel is def. worth it in my opinion but still it's a lot of money.
And I don't think exhaust is not really noticeably louder either.

So if you like to drive aggressively and maybe take it to track a few times to maximize extra 15 hp, upgraded MDM and suspension setup, you may get your money out of revise suspension and MDM etc., but if not, it's still 5k upgrade for things you'll not use.

I don't know where in the Metroplex you're located, but BMW of Dallas has a Singapore Gray M5 without the Competition Package. You could swing by and test drive it to form your own assessment.

I don't think so. The M5 is not a race car or sports car. It's not a track car IMO. It a powerful, sporty sedan.

If the comp pack was under $5k I would have done it for the wheels and steering.

But at $7300, I passed on it.

I do think it's louder. I drove the M6 CP and had the sales guy rev it for me so I could hear it. I think it's not as loud as other AM exhausts but it's definitely louder than stock. So you do get something for the exhaust portion but you might do better just buying an AM exhaust later if the CP is not loud enough.

I agree.

I might go for b&o sound and upgraded wheels instead of cp.

I will test drive m5 without cp this week for sure and post my opinion.

Don't order this car without CP. M5 should have come like this from the factory in its base form to be honest with you. Steering alone is good enough, and the exhaust is much louder and meaner looking. Lastly, you don't have to take the car to the track, if you redline on 1st or 2nd and even in 3rd gear, you can feel the 15hp + longer rev range to 6250rpm. Also the wheels look much better but thats more cosmetic.

Comp pack

Here is my take... I have driven both and can tell you there is a lot of difference between the two....Especially the exhaust and suspension... When your already spending 100k, what's 7 grand? Do you want to pull up to a light with a regular m5 and see a comp pack next to you and be thinking damn I should of got the faster, better looking, and more exclusive car... I have a '14 Monte Carlo blue CP M5 and glad I checked that box everyday.....

I have a different take. I test drove both and chose non-CP option. I DD mine and in comfort setting non- CP is much better for DDing, CP is too stiff. Plus I like non-CP wheels better. Matter of taste.

I don't care if I pull up to a CP car in my non-CP. I am confident it's a better car for my DD needs and that's all the matters. If I need to compete, I've got plenty other ways.

FWIW almost every review of the CP said that basically that is the way the f10M5 should have been from the beginning

My point was to give you a honest opinion from a M5 owner...Your previous post was obnoxious and ridiculous!!! Your post honestly looks like your worried about a 7500 option...My point was basically "you might as well get it..."

Mmmmmkaaaaay. You lost all the credibility right there.

P.S. There are mostly M5 owners on here, not just you.

Wow! That's why those are called options. Some like certain options and done don't. Nothing to do with being cheap.

And no comment on your light comment.

Well mine is non CP and my wife today complained about how jarring the M5 drives and we had kids in the back and car was in sport suspension mode and I had to dial it back to comfort and I was really interested in just that today but guess what I found that the car just doesn't have that much comfy mode and car is still very stiff compared to most other cars out there for me in a good way but when time comes and people complain you won't know what to do and they will complain unless they are blown away by the car and are fans (My wife isn't it seems) and can't focus but M5 Non CP can be jarring on less than perfect roads even in comfort mode and for the first time in a long while today I thanked God for not checking that box - Though I would love the Lider exhauste and the better steering of course but not at the cost of my DD comfort expectations and now I understand why M5 made most M5 Non CP -

One more thing this car is not a sporty car however it may look like one "a sleeper" if you will but it is a sports car at heart NO DOUBT when you need it to be!And I am saying that in response to a post above! No disrespect and to each his own!
