Alcantara wheels do feel good in your hands.
I think you're right on the shifter being over kill actually.

Race display steering wheel would be good though if you don't want the blue stripe as you say.

£300 labour for install is a piss take.

You can do it you self in under an hour easy. I've done it no problem

OK, looking for some guidance on installing the center console. Do I really need to take out the screws for it when it's still in place? The gear knob seems to be in the way.

OK, install was a success for the center console. By disconnecting the 5 cables, it was able to slide out the entire center trim. I'll try to make some pictures of my procedure.

This looks really good on your silverstone interior! I am trying to do the same on my M6 that came with wood trim and am having a very hard time. When I swapped my M3 trim it simply popped in and out, but it appears with the M6 all the trim is screwed in from the back, and the only way to remove it without breaking is to remove the door panel and unscrew from the back. Is this how it is on the M5 as well?

PS some of the pictures arent loading on my junk internet connection so this may have already been answered.

EDIT - here is a link to my thread. I apologize for taking this thread somewhat off track. This was the most relevant thread that came up in my hours of searching!

No, all trim pops out with just your hand. You can use a flathead for the door parts to compress a silver spring, or use your finger.

No cutting needed.

All you need is a TORX bit, and about 2 hours of time.

The center console is actually really easy.

I seriously doubt under an hour is possible. You have to transfer and align AC vents and all center console components. If you give a shit about your car, it'll take more than an hour.
