  • Poor outdated road networks
  • Poor law enforcement
  • Integrity of the driving license system
  • Driver training
  • Unroadworthy cars and trucks
  • Truck drivers driving for too many hours
  • Rural drivers not well versed with freeway and city driving
  • Alcohol
  • Fatigue

This list, with a few exceptions, can be applied to any country. You may as well be right on many of these points, at the end of the day West Europe benefits from having all the East countries as part of the EU. Europe has become a bigger market with bigger profits after the East came in the EU so it can't be a one way traffic and you can't pick and choose what you get. That is valid for driving, employment and so on. But I digress, this is a subject for another time and forum.

Driving mainly on motorways doesn't mean that you are a skilled driver.
A lot of people forgot to check the mirrors before switching the bands.
What would they do if they have to drive on a normal road and an overpass is necessary? Check if a car is not close enough from the other way, check the mirror, activate the signal and after that overpass..
I doubt that this process is easy for some people ☺
But pushing the pedal to the metal on an empty straight doesn't require real skills 😉
The worst part for the Eastern Countries is the lack of tracks.
So all the 'action' happens on public roads! Not good, but no alternatives 😠
