New M5 Owner

Hey everyone - I picked up a '14 M5 with the competition package a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to introduce myself. I'm coming from a '12 550xi with the m sport package and Dinan Stage III software that I ended up selling last month. I was considering a pre-owned 911 turbo or gran turismo, but the combination of our growing family and some pretty sick M5 lease deals made my decision to go with the 4 door beast an easy one. The M5 is equipped with:

Black Sapphire
Black Merino
Competition Pkg w/ 343M
Executive Pkg (not sure why this is an option)
Lighting Pkg
Bang Olufsen

I don't plan to modify it too much since it is a lease, but I did the Exhaust Meister mod and 35% llumar tint all around minus the front windshield so far. I plan to remove the charcoal filters, hardwire the radar detector, and possibly vinyl wrap some of the chrome accents.

Also, I want to say thank you to my fellow forum members. I've been quitely following a lot of the threads and you guys have posted some great information that helped me decide to get the M5 and plan out my mods.

Here's some pictures.

I haven't pushed it cause of the break-in period so I can't compare the power just yet. However, the handling and the DCT are phenomenal which makes it feel like a more complete car.

There have been a few threads on this, and i believe the concensus was they are basically the same car. True story.

What do you mean the same here? The M5 is just a upgrade 535/550 in handling and power aspect?

Had 550i with Dinan and wasn't even close!
Not even close !!
Charter character character !
550i WITH Dinan stage 2 (Mine) Was a car without the charisma or soul of M and this is something that only M drivers can speak to when they drive Non M cars!! They just don't speak to you!!

Any way,

Actually I always believed like this and since last time I brought my car into dealer I am more convinced at this point. M cars even do not need to be driven, once I sit in it I know it's an M. When I was waiting for the oil change last time, randomly walked around in the showroom, and saw one 14 ZCP LCI M5 sitting there. Opened the driver's door and had a sit there, wow i just can say wow. It's so much comfort than my 650GC. Really like it, the more I look at M5 the more I hate myself. I made a wrong decision 9 months ago, why did I buy a 650GC instead of a LCI M5
Right now, it's too late to regret, put 19000kms on the car already, If I will do the trade in staff, I gonna possibly lose $40000.

I 100% agree that they are two very different cars. My 550 with the dinan software was great for what it was, a fast luxury sedan. In comparison, The M5 feels like a true sports car with 4 door functionality. I will defintely post a more detailed comparison once I drive the M5 more. . . looking forward to a weekend road trip to Boston.

The 650GC is one of the nicest looking sedans out there. You shouldn't regret the decision. Enjoy the 650GC for another couple of years and trade it in once the upside down is more tolerable.
