I remember in the e60 if you didnt press the brake pedal down when stopped the clutch disk would wear out.
Yep. Brake engaged at stops. Force of habit from the last M5.

I think proper driving is to not upset the suspension/chassis as that is 1) dangerous and 2) slows you down.

In auto mode, DCT can upshift under WOT without any jolt at all without upsetting the chassis. Completely smooth.

In manual mode, when I upshift manually under WOT, I often get a violent jerk, which I think points out that I'm upshifting at a wrong time. Rear axle goes wild, super dangerous.

(Of course this problem disappears when the foot is lifted off the throttle during the upshift, but that is not optimal).

What's the proper DCT manual upshifting method then?

Thanks

With harshest Sequential mode setting (S3) and MDM enable, as soon as I see the yellow bars on HUD, I shift it up! It's lots of fun
I think the best time to change the gear (up shifting) is at 6000 RPM!

No brake pedal here. Unless I'm at an incline.

This. I downshift into first at about every intersection. Love the rev matching.

I usually like to drive in S2 or S3 a lot and I like to downshift the DCT whenever I'm decelerating to a stop or a red traffic light because I like to hear the exhaust crack on each downshift with the Straightpipes. Does anyone think this is bad? My DCT seems fine and shifts smoother than ever.
No, it's not bad at all. That's the whole point of the throttle blips when downshifting. It revs the engine to where the RPMs will be in the lower gear so there is no stress on the clutch when it engages by not having the transmission take the stress of the engine RPMs catching up to the actual pace.

has anyone found a way to manually upshift smoothly in S2 or S3 mode? seems like D2 or D3 auto shifts smoothly without the violent clunk sound.

S6 on the m5 gave me permanent neck problems. Loved that car.

There is slightly difference between S and D. In D mode, computer is responsible to change the gear so there is a delay and rev matching to make the shift smooth. In Sequential mode, the driver is responsible to select the shift point and there is not that much delay (especially in S2 and S3). This is exactly like a true manual tranny with exception of clutch pedal and you can shift the gear in less than 100 ms (in S3) which is very fast. At each shift you are dealing with two different gear ratios and upon gear changing the inertia will take the place and you feel jerkiness along with DSC blinking if you shift near the red-line where the max power is available... The more power, the more jerkiness... You won't feel this jerkiness if you change the gear in lower RPM (less power) or in higher gears (ie 4 to 5 or 5 to 6 or 6 to7) where the gear ratios are close and equal or less than 1:1 ... S2 and S3 are defined as Sport /Sport+ shifting and you would expect that clunk and kick from rear; however if you want smooth gear shifting, you may need to set to S1...

your driving it the way your supposed to. Beat it down.

OK, so today I was also noticing this clunk on WOT changes.

It seems like when WOT on lower revs, it's buttery smooth, but when its at higher rev's there is the clunk.
