Uk New f10 m5 how much of a improvement is the fuel economy

Hi, first thread and wanted to know how comparable The mpg on the f10 m5 is to some of my previous cars I've owned.
Like most it's a definite dream to own one, and I'm planning to one day, sooner rather then later.
Basically I live in London, so urban is what i tend to focus on. I used to own a 330 e46 convertible, the obc usually stated 20.5mpg, and a full tank costs 70 pounds roughly. Obviously when you hit the accelerater and drive with spirit that easily drops to low 15's
Despite what ppl say about the bmw website and its stats on mpg, it was fairly accurate for my e46 330. As the website states 21mpg urban and 27mpg combined.
I know the f10 m5 urban is 20.5mpg and 28mpg combined which is largely due to the larger fuel tank aswell as start stop, turbo, and brake regeneration. But is this mpg accurate or way off?
I also own a 3.2 2007 awd tt coupe, this is around 20mpg urban and really drops when you put your foot down!

My e46 330 cab: full tank (69 litres) cost me 72 pounds roughly
3.2 Audi tt 07: 79pounds for a full tank
Bmw f10 m5: a guess as its 80 litres 95 pounds for a full tank.

How often do you f10 m5 owners fill the tank?
And as I'm from the uk. Any answers from our American counterparts please convert your gallons into our litres when answering as that would be a great help.

Really just wondering how accurate the real life mpg is?

And please refrain from comments such as ' don't buy a m5 if u worry abou fuel' it's merely a discussion about its fuel effiency.

4500km thus far, averaging 15L/100km. If more spirited driving, then it's about 16L/100km. In comparison to my previous F10 550 xdrive, 14.5L/100km.

Therefore, not bad for the M5 fuel consumption.

I just did a round trip in traffic. Stop start, some spirited driving. 50km and my ave fuel consumption was 14.0L/100k.

I usually get around 420ks out of a tank. When I say 'tank' I mean that I drive it to the fuel reserve light and fill it up with around 75k range left, which means I am putting around 70 or so litres in when I fill it up. Which i guess means my ave fuel over the tank is around 16.5L/100 if my calculations are correct.

This is my experience over around 9000ks.

Hope that is helpful.

I think this is a great topic actually. Since my office was flooded by Hurricane Sandy I had to drive to work in NJ rather than the ferry to NYC. My C63 gets 12 mpg in city driving. With the gas shortages and four to 5 hour waits for gas, I was wishing I had a more fuel efficient car. I look forward to seeing improved mileage on my F10.

its better than the e60 m5 but not THAT much better.

the difference in town is more noticable.

my e60 m5 got approx 9-10 mpg in the city, the f10 gets 13.5-14.5

on the highway i got 22 mpg in the e60. f10 gets 22-24.

so definately not a 30% improvement there.

13-15mpg in city is "not bad" considering I'm getting 13.5mpg city driving in my F10 535i :/

In comfort mode I get 600km out of the tank, meaning when I hit the reserve.
The computer says I am getting 12L / 100 km which is 18-20mpg

Of course if you do some hard core driving numbers will worsen.. but honestly why would you drive in Sport+ in the city ?

I am getting about the same results as you do. 12.5 liters per 100 km and 600km on a tank. Except mine is the all inclusive average for over 10,000 miles of driving, including high speed driving and fast acceleration. It is very economic.

I'm getting 13-15MPG in London. So its better than the E60 and about the same as my E92 M3.

I get 240 Miles per tank roughly.

Neil.

Hi I am currently at 21.3 mpg over 27000 miles, probably 75% motorway miles. The auto stop start only kicks in when you are in auto mode, but you can turn it off. Complete waste of time IMHO.
I drive the car sensibly, and managed 10k on my first set of rear tyres, my E9* M3's would get around 5K, lol

I'm getting 17.2 mpg and 75-80% of the time I'm driving it in slow London traffic. I always disable Start/Stop. My e60 was doing 12.6 mpg on the same commute. The F10 is amazing on fuel, given what a beast it is.

The onbaord computer shows 17.9 mpg. This is for a period when I have been driving around town only (mailnly around SE London at the weekends, so in reasonable heavy traffic). I always turn off the auto start-stop so I am sure it could be improved, but it seems good to me - slighly worse than the GTR but much better than my E60 M5.

The F10 M5 has given me a huge boost over the E60 M5. I get about 16-18L/100km in the F10 and between 25-26.5L/100km in the E60. Now, I have a certain aversion to shifting up so others may have done better with the E60, but for me, it represents a 30%+ reduction in fuel consumption. The F10 also does about 5-10% better than my X5M, which is probably to be expected.

this is what i thought, im pretty sure the e46 m3 and the e92 are very similar in mpg ratings. but the m5 on paper looks more 'efficient' then both yet more practical.

my 330 was 20/21 mpg on average so 17.9 is liveable in my eyes, considering the power you get etc. also subtle enough for my wife to drive lol '

I live in the UK too, in a fairly rural area. Most of my driving is fairly short runs in towns and country roads.

I averaged 18.2mpg whilst running in but I am currently getting 16mpg without trying at all. In my old M6 I used to get between 11 and 13mpg. The F10 is amazingly practical given the type of car it is.

Short journeys kill the economy on V8 motors, you need 15/20 miles to start getting proper MPG.
I can't understand why the "Quick warm-up" Veins are not STD on cars like this.
Silver paper over the rad did the job years ago!!!!!!!
So much for technology.
