Sunroof issue. For real?

I just got my M5 a few weeks ago and it's been raining everyday since I picked her up. Yesterday was the first sunny day so i thought I would open the sunroof and treat myself. I clicked the button backwards once assuming it was one-touch. It wasn't. I had to hold the button back until the the entire roof liner was retracted. THEN the actual sunroof was one-touch retractable.

Is this right? I can't believe a $100,000 vehicle doesn't have a fully one-touch retractable sunroof. Why do it half-assed?

I think that's a software error. It's one touch on my car.

I did one click back to the fullest and let go (like it was one touch). The roof only retracted maybe quarter inch. I had to keep the button held to the fullest backwards to fully retract the roof. Then the actual sunroof was one touch.

My roof was just stuck in the vent position with the shade all the way closed. Just as I was about to call for an appt to get it looked at I saw the post with the video that shows how to initialize the sunroof.

Tried it, worked perfectly, and now all is good. My one touch stopped working a couple months back, but it wasn't enough to want to have to put it in the shop. Nightmares of techs taking turns seeing what a tuned M5 feels like. Anyway, it fixed that too.

Does the sunroof close automatically if it senses rain?

Awesome, thanks for this thread! It fixed my sunroof problems, I didn't know were a problem. I was very annoyed having to hold the button to open the shade.. wondering why this BMW was different than every other.

Two clicks opens the blind and the roof fully at the same time for me, happy with that.
