We mock what we do not understand.

The biggest challenge in my opinion is the noise the car generates and to be frank this is something lost in mordern turbo BMWs. Otherwise, it is a step (or several) ahead of the previous gen car. |

Throwing my 2 cents in, in my opinion (and just that), I prefer the F10 M5. The latest M3/M4 is nicely done and a great car, but just is more a compromise as a daily driver. I'm not thrilled with the exhaust note either. The E92 was just fantastic on the track with an addictive exhaust note but not much difference from a 335is on the street.
Whereas the F10 may feel big to some, I guess I am just used to it. Plus it can be a luxury cruiser that morphs into a very capable car in the twisties or a track beast at a touch of the button. If you are willing to deal with tire wear, it will keep up with just about any car on track and blow a dedicated track car owners mind as you hang with it in the corners and blow past it down the next straight. Yes I did that at CMP (Kershaw SC) and will surely do that at VIR next weekend. Stay tuned.

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have owned many BMWs in the past (a 2002, 316d, 318d and a 525i). I have also lived in Europe and now in America. BTW, all my diesels have been chipped, so I have experience trust me. I just can't get inline with BMWs strategy anymore. Take the same basic platform and provide very minor tweaks and some plastic components and overcharge the general public, its sickening. I remember when BMW NA engines meant something. Along with the poster above, a new M4 is pretty much this: Just so you know, the picture above is photoshopped in the BMW manufacturing manner. Taking a lower model, 335i in this case, and just sticking a new badge on top. To each his own. I would still have the E63 WAGON. |

The sad reality is that with each iteration BMW becomes a different car for some of us, some of us learn to love the new generations and some of us wish the technology was more balanced. A stock F80 might be perfect for some, but for others the S65/S85 was a generational landmark which we will miss.
I instantly loved my E46 M3 because it was classic BMW for me. My E90 was a different car to drive, but I learned to love it and modified with a supercharger produced amazing hp. Let's just say that we will all have a generation of M Car that we will associate with. They are all fantastic. For me it's been an awesome experience !

If anyone thinks an Me90 is anything like a 335 on the street then you never drove an e90 and had to suffer with a loaner 335. 335 is closer to my kid's Accord than an M3. Gimme a break.
