Bang & Olufsen Sound System?

So I am planning on ordering my M5 in the next couple of weeks for European Delivery in November, I was debating whether to get the B&O sound system. Does anyone have it and is it worth the $3,700 bucks?

I'll tell you after I get home and can finally drive my car tonight. From the brief review my wife gave me, yes it's worth it.

Took delivery of my car last night with B&O. Yes the sound system sounds very good. But honestly could probably live without it. However, I have not listened to the "regular" system but guessing it's the same one in my wife's new 750 which is great as well.

My take - if you don't mind the $3400, get it. If it makes you stretch your budget, pass on it and don't think twice.

Now I have yet to drive in the dark and have heard that there is some cool looking illumination that makes the speakers appear to "float"? Now that may be pretty cool

I agree with Lizard1 - it's very good but the regular one is good too.

One thing I would mention is that to get benefit out of B&O you have to listen to quality sources. If you're playing satellite radio or low quality MP3s or internet radio, then you're wasting money with B&O.

i tried to change it last week for mine but it slipped into production (150 status), they wouldnt let me change it for the world. I hope i didnt make a mistake by not getting it.. i have a 535 and i am trying my hardest to make them different

They will be very different. Don't worry about the stereo.

Regular sound system in my 750 is horrible...I will def. get the b&o in my next car.

I decided to go with the B&O over full leather. The look is incredible and everyone says the sound is clearly better. If you love music then get the B&O.

The standard sound in the 750 is not the premium logic 7 sound. The basic sound in M5 is the premium logic 7.

So the starting point is a notch better, but the B&O takes it to another level.

I have premium sound in my 750 still horrible..I'm just saying..basic sound system in my Q5 is better than premium sound system in 7er.

I think horrible is an extreme statement. I would say that the bass is weak, and the sound staging is poor, but the system is still a very good system when calibrated properly. The only advantage your Q5 has over the Logic 7 is bass.

Most people who ride in my 550i complement the audio system.

And for what it's worth I ordered the B&O too.

Sat and listened to mine at the dealership today ( I'm letting them display the car through Saturday). Even my wife who cares less about music say Wow!

Worth the money!

I've had my new M5 just 4 days now but I opted for the B & O system because I love music. Although the standard system is excellent, I would say go for the upgrade if you are an audiophile. Having said that, I agree that if you mostly are streaming over the internet or are using lower quality mp3 files, it won't matter as much.
