Going to test drive a used M5 today - anything I should look for?

the M5 bug has bit, and now I need one it seems. Yes, need it, like vitamin c.

Anyways, I've done a fair amount of research. I haven't found any list of "Make sure this is in good shape before you buy used..." etc.

I am coming from a CLS550, and it's had it's share of problems, mostly suspension related.

With all that being said - can any one offer any advice on things to check, things to look for on a used M5 (2013)?

Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you guys and enjoying the beast that is the M5.

Pull service records, see if there is a trend of issues. Does it have extended warranty?

Yes, pull the service records to see (if it is even documented) how often its been in to top off the oil, from oil consumption. If its 1000 miles or less, move on to the next car....seems to happen more often in the MY13, but later years can have oil consumption issues too. CPO is a must if its MY13, since they're probably out of warranty anyways.

Like others have stated pull the service history as the 13's have documented issues.

Prior to the 15' M5 I currently own I had a 13' which had many issues.

Among these was excessive oil consumption, power steering failure, several drivetrain malfunction issues, issues with excessive brake noise and a transmission issue that took 3 weeks to resolve.

Maybe this was atypical but my experience was not positive as the car was always in the shop. If you go 13' make sure you buy warranty / CPO.

My 15' has had zero issues; my advice would be to spend a bit more and get an LCI 14'.

Also, make sure the 1400 mile service was done or within +/- 200 miles of 1400 miles. Or is it 1200?
