2014 M5 ordered, ED June 3

Hello all

Took advantage of the 6 month pull-ahead and the good M5 rates and ordered the M5 last month. It went into production today.

2014 M5
Monte Carlo Blue
Sakhir Orange Full Merino Leather
Executive Package
Driver Assistance Plus
Lighting Package
20" M Light Alloy Wheels- 343M
Bang & Olufsen Sound

I have ED on June 3. Question for those of you who have done ED. What's the delivery timeline from drop off in Germany to redelivery to the NY area? ..... I'm picking it up June 3 and I'm back in NY June 4 (work, work, work)....

Thx

One day? Fly in, take delivery, fly back out...?

Why not just take delivery here in the states?

I understand it takes about 6-8 weeks for the redelivery.

Either way... Congrats!

Yup. One day. I have a lot of work stuff going on but the ED discount was significant enough make me spend a chunk of miles to fly to Munich for a day and a half. Next time I'll do it properly.

Yeah, I hear ya. I just started with a new company. But my wife and I had started planning this trip 8 months ago. So, I'll be out for 2 weeks when in reality I would easily be running 16 hour days.
Guess I'll be working while trying to enjoy my new M5 in Germany!

awesome congrats!! we just got back a week or so ago. awesome time, so hopefully on your next ED you can get some time off. at least you'd be able to have an awesome dinner...

6-8 weeks are the current estimates...just all depends on how fast the car can clear German and US customs. i should get my shipping details on Tuesday...

Considering an M5. Mind sharing the final sale price?

Any reason you didn't get the competition package?

A few reasons. I asked a number of people , including my CA, and the unanimous consensus was the CP would be a waste of money given that I won't be tracking the car and I live in NYC where the roads are crazy bad and having a stiffer suspension would be asking for trouble.

Exactly my evaluation results. You take those factors and add a $7300 price tag and it was a very easy decision to leave that box unchecked. If it was $4k or less I probably would have just said 'F it' and gotten it. Or... if there was a package that included both the CCB's and CP for $10k or less... I would have went with that.

Nice! That'll be one hell of a machine! You'll be outfitting it quite nicely! Imola Red is RICH!! May be my fav red color.
I would have gone with the CP if it wasn't a daily driver or if it was under $4k. Can't justify the 'track prep' features for daily use at $7300. And the CCB's would be great, but at $9k and NOT covered under the BMW maintenance...and again, the car won't see track use....can't justify the cost.

Cool spec.

I have a space gray X6 50i. Great color. For my first M I wanted to go with the M colors otherwise I think we'd both have a near identical build. I think having MCB and the SO leather is a tad mad and I'll probably go back to space gray on my next ride but 1st M is gonna be memorable.

In my opinion CP is a waste of money. You should just add the Dinan Sways instead. They make a remarkable difference to body roll without compromising ride quality like the CP does.

How does the CP compromise ride quality? I know it is sad but the reason I want the CP is for the Rims. The car would come lowered and the exhaust is what ever since I plan on putting an aftermarket exhaust. I do want to maximize my money since I plan on keeping the car for a long time.

It's much stiffer than the M5 suspension.

Drove a M6 with comp package today for suspension feel - trying to decide whether to get a comp on 2015 (dealer didn't have any '14 M5's on lot, but had a '14 M6 GC). It was a stiff suspension and I could feel the road. At the time it felt better than my current E90 with RFT's but on the way back home, I thought it was about the same. Need to go back and check out a '14 without comp. CA seemed insistent on getting comp (guess they get good markup's on those). Stiff suspension = def a concern for those of us who drive in NYC / northern NJ.

I have not driven the CP M5 yet. The regular M5 ride was so smooth compared to my E60 M5.
