Anyone had error messages with Frontal Collision and Daytime Pedestrian Warning?

Less than 350 miles on the odometer, and every time a car changes lanes in front of me on the freeway I get a "Frontal Collision Warning System. Front camera may be obstructed. Restricted Functionality" message, followed immediately by "Daytime Pedestrian Warning limited. Check visibility". Dealer says there's nothing wrong because there are no error codes stored. Anyone have any experience with this problem?

If you can rule out weather (heavy rain, etc) then it's probably a bad sensor or module.

Have your SA or a mechanic from your dealer get in the car with you so you can replicate the problem in front of them.

I had this happen twice when the car was under 300 miles.

I don't have night vision, but have the others. I asked my SA and he said that sometimes the sensor gets dirty and causes the error.

I haven't had the problem since then.

I've shown them pictures of the error messages, but they claim BMW has told them there is nothing wrong with the car, and since there are no error codes stored, they say the car is working normally.

I had this happen also with low miles on the car during my ed. I was in slight fog. Then the fog went away but the error did not. Once I cleaned the night vision lens and left the car off while we are much the error went away.

Usu fog or weather conditions. Otherwise clean the windshield glass in front of the rearview mirror.

No weather conditions, windshield is spotless. BMWNA is saying nothing is wrong with the car, even with pictures of the error messages.

Hmm, I would try cycling the collision detection on and off several times. You may also want to try setting the collision warning distance to the FAR setting.

Now I'm getting these error messages while stopped at a stop light, and BMW still says there's nothing wrong with the car. Amazing.

It's always either weather or bad equipment with these systems.

If you ruled out the former, you can always go go a different dealer.. which is usually the easiest solution. If that doesn't work, call BMW N/A.

I tend to have issues when I am driving into the rising sun in the morning. It seems reasonable to expect that though, as the the sun can be VERY strong at those times especially when there isn't anything around to obstruct it.

It doesn't really help , but I've only seen this message for the frontsal collission when there was a build up of slush on the sensor under the bumper. Which is fair enough. Cleanr the slush away and all ok again.

Car is with the BMW engineer at the dealership. The sensor/camera is not dirty or obstructed by slush, rain, or condensation (almost none of that here in the desert). I have a feeling the entire collision detection system is not working, because I've never had it tell me there WAS something in front of me, only that there is reduced functionality.

I have same exact problem but when going home from work and sun is going down. The glare is extremely strong right into the lense I get the error.

The word from BMW is that this is a problem with no solution, and to live with it.

Unacceptable. If it is a problem with no solution, then it is THEIR problem with no solution. A perfect solution for you is returning it for a new car that operates properly. Time to look into your State's lemon laws. I would have a very serious sit down with the ownmer of the dealership.

Dealership is sympathetic, and just as frustrated with BMW as I am.
