New Car Sitting on Lot for a Year - problem?

I posted in the M6 section since it was the proper place, however traffic there is a little light and need some feedback ASAP. I have a handshake deal with dealer coming to my office @ 11AM to sign for a 2014 M6GC with MSRP or 132,400 discounted by 25K with a lease price of $1,2xx. Smoking deal......

This particular car has a production date of last June (late) and arrived on dealer lot last August. Car has 130 miles so it has been driven a bit. Test drive did not indicate any noticeable problems. No flat spots, no error messages, battery discharge, etc. Warranty has NOT been punched..... brand new warranty as of today.

Thoughts please...... TIA.

Is the car for sale in Australia?. I just think that demand is low for the M5.

I think you could get 30K off msrp. It has been stuck at the dealer for over a year, they are therefore willing to do anything to get rid of it. Don't forget that it is not an LCI so not alot of people would be willing to get a new car that doesn't have all the tweaks of the 2014

Only issue you may have is with the battery, but if the dealer did a good job keeping it charged up it should be ok. I would say that you got the best aspect of the LCI with the new version steering wheel, not sure about your I Drive Knob, it may not be the new touch sensitive one. To me that wouldn't be a big deal since I haven't used mine once yet.

Didn't really post to get into price but I guess my fault for mentioning the deal.... there's another 5K going to my trade which dealer is paying. My trade is a little light plus needs brakes/tires.... I digress.

This car is a 2014 but doesn't have the touch Idrive as ghueser mentioned. I am really most concerned with any potential issues with a car that has only covered 130 miles in a year..... obvious stuff brakes, tires, hoses, gas...... and of course battery. It has been driven a bit, not a lot. Dealer did charge battery but thinking battery may be compromised.

Same here. I think for many people the M6GC is too expensive compared with the M5 and that isn't selling well either.

Also we are all in the demographic that wants to order our own cars and not uby what they have off the lot. That slows sales down as well.

That IS a smoking deal. BUT... for me i REALLY like the touch iDrive.

So it depends on what's important to you.

Since it's a lease, who cares if it's been driven, etc...as long as it will all be covered, etc...

If the iDrive isn't a big deal to you (or not worth the extra $$) I say DO IT.

It's called a warranty and free maintenance for 4 years, i would get this in a hearbeat, so much better looking than the M5. Don't make the mistake of passing it up.

Michael, I don't think you need to wory about the brakes, tires, hoses, or gas. And if the Battery does act up at some point, you can get it replaced under warranty. Buy it, put a fresh fill of premium in it, and drive.

By the way, a cousin of mine bought a 2 year old E60 M5 from a dealer. It had been sitting there because it was a manual and no one wanted it. Only issue he had was with the battery and got that replaced by BMW.

Sounds like a great deal for an M6. The mileage is nothing. All under warranty. Sounds good.

Pretty sure after one year, they will change the oil regards of the mileage. I would have that as part of the deal.

Micheal the is NOT a 2014
It's way out of date being a year old, you can get a deal close to that on a NEW car
Give it a miss.

Looks like a good deal and the warranty is there to bail you out if problems arise.

I'm always a bit leery of leasing anything other than a current model year car though because residual value will be a bigger loss than normal, negating the savings somewhat. They are heavily discounting the car to make up for the residual hit, but keep in mind you can likely get 10-15k off sticker for a NEW 2015 model, which with the higher residuals will get you a payment in a similar neighborhood. You're probably saving ~$100 a month going with this vehicle.

One of the best tools to evaluate your deal on is leasetrader and swapalease. Look at what other's lease payments are on the same model year. Yours should be a lower payment than all of them, or this isn't a good deal.

FWIW, lease rates (as of July) on a 2015 M6 for 36 months is .00130, 55% residual. There's a possibility that in August the rate is even better, .00125 was reported by one buyer. At the .00130/55% rates, on a $130k MSRP sticker with $15k discount and $2k down (cap reduction), you're at $113k net cap cost and a payment of $1392.00+ tax for 36 months. If your $12xx payment is also plus tax, I'd look for a 2015. If your $12xx payment is tax included, then you're getting a good deal on a 2014.

Bravo.

Invoice price on an M6GC is roughly 90% of sticker on a 2015. Getting more than 10% off of sticker is a very good deal.

Thanks Pushed hard throughout the UK, got it in the end.
And a good RV on the LCI M5, so win win, if there is such a thing.

Not for me if not Touch Idrive Knob control
It is alone worth the 100$ monthly difference
IMHO

Seriously? You'd pay $1,200 a year for a touch controller? Come on.

I have idrive touch in my M5 and I hardly ever use the touchpad. It's too much effort while driving to get to the menu where you can pinch and zoom the map (which is why I would want to use it most, and it drives me nuts it doesn't work at all on the default map view) and the google online search for POI via voice is so good that I never wind up writing letters on the controller.

It's nice to have, but I certainly wouldn't pay $1,200 more a year just to have that option.

2K down is almost equal to $50 per month!
Also I don't think you can get $15K discount for 2015 model.
Considering that $50 even if he can get 15k discount we are talking about almost $200 per month! (1392+50 =1442 vs 12xx)
