2014 M5 Competition - Brakes

I picked up my new 2014 with Competition Package today and am thrilled with it but a little confused.

My confusion is with respect to the brakes and specifically the ceramic brakes. I was under the impression that the CP came with ceramic brakes which are obviously identified by gold color calipers. The ads and promotions for the Competition Package feature ceramic brakes.

My car with CP has the regular Blue M5 calipers - no ceramic brakes. Am I mistaken that the Competition Package comes with the ceramic brakes?

Appreciate any insight on this. Thank you

carbon ceramic breaks are a completely different option to add for almost $10,000. so no competition package does not come with the cc brakes

Wow, what a surprise that must've been..The CC brakes are extra, but if you did spec out the brakes, that's a different story.

There was one review that said they were included but that was not accurate. ZCP= comp pkg . 2NK = cc brakes. Sorry for your surprise.

Always been separate options in the USA. Surprised you didn't realize that given that under list of options they are separate and CCB are 10k. Obviously if CCB are 10k they would not be included in the 7k CP.

Agree with all of the above posts. What surprises me is that you missed that detail before ordering such an expensive car.Never forget the we have a very friendly and helping online community here .Use the forums for everything. But all is not lost.I hope the the comp package has enough tweaks to satisfy your needs.

Always been an option here in the states. Hope that didn't disappoint you when you picked up the car. There are endless discussion about benefit (unsprung mass-cornering, fade, etc.). I have studied this to the nth degree and if ti makes you feel better, I prob would not order them anyway unless tracking heavily. The benefits on the street, while there, are not anything to write home to mom about. Enjoy your beautiful car. Use the $9K to book a nice vacation-lol!

I guess the fact that almost every piece of advertising from bmw for the CP features gold calipers AND the launch video from BMW also mentions the brakes threw me off.

Does the non-US version of CP include CCB?

I appreciate all the responses and am not remotely bothered by my misinformation - no regret whatsoever and I'm thrilled with the car.

One other question on the CP - is the top speed still limited to 155?

plus the Calipers on the CC brakes look stupid, with that frosted "Crayola" yellow color.

This. I wouldn't feel too bad, their usefulness on the street is nada and their usefulness on track is even more questionable considering the aftermarket options out there that will blow it out of the water.

No, not in Switzerland neither in Germany I guess. They are optional and not cheap at all.
With the money you saved, you can fill a few fuel tanks or pay some years of the car insurance...

No CCP brakes are a separate order from CP here in the UK and cost £7000+
Not worth the money here at all.
Tracking such a large barge is frankly pointless.

Does that mean the standard F10 M5 and competition Brakes are exactly the same as Bmw are replacing mine but with competition/ performance ones which they said are supposedly much better

My 2014 cp topped out at 268 kph or just over 166 mph on ED in Germany. Not sure BMW changes the limiter when it hits the states.

Genuinely curious, what aftermarket options would you consider vastly superior to those from BMW? The BMW CCB are supplied by Brembo SGL.
