Dumb question, but does the F10 M5 comes standard with DCT? Or 6MT...I didn't see the DCT pricing like the M3s for $2900. or is it me?

-No more slot for the key. Just keep it in your pocket and press start. I don't have keyless go, so it doesn't work on the doors. Free of charge standard feature. It was explained to me as a safety feature. The key in the ignition would always end up in someones knee/leg during a collission.
What's interesting in the ordering guide is that there's a "NC" no charge label next to keyless entry and sat radio all other executive package items (ZEC) do not show a "NC" label next to them....hmmm maybe these two items do come standard ??

I also had B&O on my S4. Wouldn't say it was that great. Clarity is nice but not that loud. But again on m5 it should be at least twice as louder.
Also. I was told by Audi service stuff that all so called "B&O" sound systems on all Audis except flagship A8, feature S8 don't have a true real B&O speakers. But B&O actually configured and tuned the system that was supplied by third party. Only on A8 and S8 is a true B&O. Same with Mercedes S class, true B&O.. Not sure what's the deal behigh B&O for BMWs... I currently have newer E63 AMG and had the whole system upgraded with REUS in Los Angeles. About $5K and sounds great over stock 600 watt HK. I remember seeing in their shop Aston DB9s B&O being upgrade and the guy said that B&O is a crap. Well, I hope not. Also another thing the guy told me is that Pro Sound System in X5M sounds better than B&O in 6 Series. I guess I'll wait until I hear my feature M5 with B&O. At least it will have nice chrome speaker grills for $3700....

Exactly. The B&O in the A8 is a $6,300 option, in the A6/A7 it is a $5,900 option. They are on a different level compared to the standard B&O system.

Speakers rise out of the dash.

The Audi S5 B&O sounds much better than the BMW Premium Audio on the F10 5-series.

And so I am hoping (expecting) the B&O upgrade to also sound much better than the Premium Audio on the 5-Series.

BMW B&O option is complete H..S... heard it in the 6 series. The B&O in our R8 sounded lot better and also given the fact is not a full blown B&O system that is used in A8's. On paper the R8 sound is inferior to the 6 series.
Something wrong with the BMW sound department these days. The 7 series premium sound is worse than our E-Class HK system.

Hope BMW can get their sound act together.

Only time will tell, I feel it would be the full leather not extended.

The "horses" mouth BMW in Munich!

Your dealer has to order upholstery code Z1XX.
In addition to this he has to send an email to the ordering manager at BMW Canada which says:
Order Number: XXXXXXX
Z1XX: BMW Individual full leather trim Cohiba Brown.

With that option you will have following contents:
content BMW Individual leather 'Merino finely structured' in upholstery colour:
- Front and rear seats including headrests
- Rear of seat backrest front seats
- Inserts in door trims
- Centre console including armrest
- Instrument panel lower section

Contents in leather 'Walknappa' black:
- Instrument panel top section (option code 4M5)
- Door upper-arm trim panels and door trim, bottom

For M5: including headliner Alcantara and instrument panel with leather finish

Cool, so they just need one extra email to the bmw ordering manager to the dash in leather.

Considering B&O designed the system and had say into the actual interior design for best acoustics you may be pointing the finger in the wrong direction or the car you were in was not adjusted properly for the music being played. The six series also has a larger cabin and softer materials. Also, audiophiles have their own preferences and that is the reason manufactuerrs take samples and have numbers.... thus the 6 is on paper better because it truly is.

I had this argument with a friend a thousand times- he liked brand A and I liked brand B.... Our ears are not all the same just like our eyes are not. The hair cells and chemical interpretation is as different as a finger print.

I would never not buy something based on a prior preference or someone's opinion without at least trying it out...

As for the B&O in the M5.... haven't heard it yet.

Pricing is good on this car.... the $10K for the Carbon Ceramic brakes (and wheels) is not bad either only downer is that should come with Ceramic Controls!

How did Mercedes avoid the gas guzzler tax in the e63 and cls63 when they use bigger V8s? Interesting.

Sad there is no standard metallic white option, either brilliant white or mineral white would have been nice.

Frozen Grey Metallic paint code is 490/7. This is off an E60 M5.
