Sakhir Orange

Here is a pic I took while in Spain. Sorry for the resolution, but this is what I remember it looking like...and I have ordered it on my car.

^ That's a fair representation. Sakhir is redder than Fox Red, but I'd say about the same level of brightness.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. This actually clears a bunch up for me... In the shade (interior), the color is darker and redder. In the sun (door), the color is very very orange (hence the name Sakhir orange).

If it in fact looks that orange/rust colored I may be going Silverstone. I really wanted something more red.

Agreed. Fox Red Merino full would be ideal. My dealer has never done Individual (or even ED) before, so he's struggling a bit helping me figure out if that even exists.

In that pic it almost looks like cinnamon.

I find Sakhir Orange a nice car for an occasional drive, but I would hate to stare at that color every day, which is why I am getting either Silverstone or Platinum.

I have had absolutely no issues so far. I have avoided wearing jeans in the car so far - did once but sat on a towel - which is because I am paranoid about it getting discoloured. My 10 year old son sits in the passenger seat every day and the seat still looks pristine.

It is holding up pretty well so far.

My wife's X5 has oyster leather and her jeans have made a bit of a mess of it sadly. It does clean up quite well with Leatherique though.

Too bad they didn't offer a color closer to the M3 Fox Red. I would have been all over that. I don't however want an orange interior under any light.

The x5m replaced sakhir with mugello red, perhaps the m5 will do the same next year?

Impossible to offer all colors for all tastes though. I doubt sakhir orange never looks orange or else theyd call it sakhir red. Maybe they'll offer new interior colors in subsequent model years.

It's orange only in the sense of being a pretty burnt orange. It's never going to be bright orange. I think people who didn't know the color by name would describe it as reddish-orange, with "reddish" being the predominant characteristic.

Burnt orange like the University of Texas burnt orange, or burnt orange like a faded brick red? Shucks, I'll wait for someone close to buy one, and use the one skill I have (photography) to try and get some very true shots.

That's precisely the problem my friend. If "reddish" were truly the predominate characteristic, I'd be all over it. And every photograph to date shows it that way with the exception of the ones in this thread. But the photos here clearly show the color to be more toward the "brown" side of the spectrum, which is not a color I'm found of in anything other than black or white cars.

Sakhir is clearly a chameleon depending on the light conditions. Compare the photos in this thread to the color from M5driver77's photo shoot:

They do not look at all like the same color.

I sure wish I could see the Sakhir Orange in person before I plunk down my $100k.

Any chance that pic up top isnt Sakhir? This is the only pic ive seen so far that is discouraging me from getting it.

It's Sakhir but the car I sat in at Frankfurt also had Sakhir and looked much redder. If I didn't now know it is called Orange, I would have called it red. I loved it.

It is extremely hard to accurately photograph this color. I have not seen it in person but I can pretty much guarantee that it is not as red as the picture above. Digitial cameras process colors differently depending on there sensor and that is even before you factor in over/under exposure, white balance, lighting, etc. All of these variables come together to literally provide thousands of slightly different hues. This is why every picture of this interior looks different. Also, each of our monitors in calibrated differently so take the same photo and one person can say that a photo is very representative of how it looks in person and the other person can be looking at something that doesn't look like the actual thing at all.

With that being said, I am going with full SO leather. I think it will look great with AW and I expect it to have orange, brown, and red hues with the emphasis on red/orange.

The pic I posted is absolutely sakhir. The color of the door card the same photo is not accurate, and the picture of just the door card above is WAY over saturated. AMPowerJ is absolutely right about colors on different monitors. Although most photos are saved in a sRGB color space, if the monitor is not calibrated a color may look different across monitors.

One idea might be, if someone could take a picture of Sakhir with something of "known red" clearly visible also, we could compare the Sakhir to the "known red".

Possibly the ///M logo on the door frame, or put a white ///M manual on the seat (with logo of course).

Also a good way to calibrate your monitor for the comparison.

I wish I had a car to see and/or photograph! Still offering if anybody around Austin gets one...

Great idea... much better than my "///M manual" suggestion. Other "known reds" are i) US-style stop_sign or ii) US-style do_not_enter sign. Of course, those are huge
