Huper Optik and other Tints

I want to put window tint on my car and want a good quality one.

I saw Huper Optik C70 with good specs (91% Infrared Heat Rejection)
I have a few question, it is a ceramic tint, does it in anyway affect the head up display?

also since the C70 tint is the one with the best heat rejection it is also the clearest, if I wanted a darker look, can I add another layer of darker tint or its not possible.

What other ceramic window tints do you recommend, is Huper Optik the best?

Ceramic tint shouldn't affect your HUD. This F30 owner has it and his HUD displays fine.

Huber Optik is the best ceramic window tint. That being said, ceramic is overkill for most applications. I'll bite though, why would somebody who lives in Essex need a ceramic tint? Are you expecting some binding flash of light that the rest of us should know about?

Ceramic tint isn't overkill IMHO; it offers the best heat rejection and it's arguably necessary if you have Comfort Access or electronic toll tags since metallic interferes with radio signals (and dyed film is horrible) -- but yes the superior heat rejection might not be a factor in Essex.

I personally use Llumar FormulaOne Pinnacle 35% on my car and love it. It's just sort of a smoked very OEM-looking tint, with none of the slight green tinge I've seen from Huper Optik. Still, either one would be an excellent choice.

I got several conflicting information. For one, I was informed that Hüper Optik film is not fully recommended for automotive use as multi-layer ceramic glass film cannot shrink and therefor be truly applied to the car windshield. It can be applied to the side glass and sometimes to the back glass so long as they are almost flat. On the other hand, I read this article: http://www.huperoptik.com/en/news/detail.aspx?t=1&id=30
about the Hüper Optik Ceramic70. So was Hüper Optik (with the Ceramic70) able to develop a multi-layer ceramic film that is now capable of following the contours of the windshield? Tell me your findings.

Depending on your state's laws and how harshly they're enforced, if you're thinking about the windshield take a look at Llumar Air Blue 80. I just got it installed and am very happy with it. As the name suggests, it has a bluish tinge to it, but it still looks very OEM; I doubt most people would even know tint was there if it weren't for the cutouts in the corners for the state-mandated registration and inspection stickers. If you've ever seen the windshield of an AMG car, it looks exactly like that. But I did it primarily for heat rejection, not aesthetics, so if you want a matching tinted look all around it probably wouldn't be your best option.

In NY 30% tinting is allowed on the side glass and for the back, any tint, while on the windshield, only the upper 6 inches is allowed for tinting. So we can only use clear or no tint at all for most of the windshield.

My question is, is there such a film that is truly clear without any tint but still with some heat rejection?

3M Crystalline 90 I believe is closer to clear than Air Blue, but it's not as good about heat rejection if I recall. But like I said, I don't think anyone would be able to look at Air Blue and know there was tint there -- unless I guess you need cutout areas for stickers on your windshield.

I have Llumar AirBlue 80 which is a fantastic tint. It gives your windows a slightly blue tint, maintains 78% light transmission but reduces 50% of heat. Night vision is excellent. It is also ceramic.

I had Huper put onto my last m3 and had comfort access issues along with AM. I didn't believe it was the tint until I finally gave in and had the tint removed per my service advisor's recommendation. Once the tint came off, comfort access and my AM came back.

My service advisor told me initially that there was a bulletin on window tint affecting comfort access and radio waves. I've since switched to a different window tint and have not had any issues whatsoever.

I am skeptical about Huper Optik. I know people who have distortion from it. Llumar AirBlue has much better optical clarity. It even works with HUD.

Check out this install.
