F10 M5 Exterior Colors in Person.

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Has anyone in the US seen some of the unique colors to the M series on some of the other models? I'm #2 on the list at my dealer and need to decide. I'm interested in many of the exteriors such as Moonstone, Singapore, Citrin, Azurite, maybe even champagne quartz and amozirte silver. But without seeing one in person i may just have to go with something i know such as Space Grey which is on my current M5. I'd be willing to travel to a US dealer to view.

Thanks.

Time to hop on a flight to Germany and check out the colors in person!

I saw frozen silver in Montreal and my jaw dropped. I don't know that I would havE had the discipline to not buy it had it been there when I picked up my 550.

Unfortunately US dealers rarely have individual color models sitting around to check out unlike the German dealers.

Next best thing is check out the photo threads they compiled here (sticky above).

Don't play it safe. Find lots of pics in all lighting conditions, read descriptions, and you'll make the right call. If you do your homework you'll be able to accept any discrepancies you might observe when you see it in person. Of the ones you listed, look into Moonstone and Azurite. Both are awesome and both have been available long enough on various models and through Individual that pics and text descriptions are abundant. If you like blue, check out Tanzanite. The only pics I've found are from the 640i vert in Geneva but it's stunning.

Yes i have had the "recommendation" to hop a plane, the wife and 4 kids dictate otherwise... This decision part of the process is going to drive me crazy.. I have a E60 M5 in the Space Grey and i love the color but was leaning toward changing it up this time. I've looked at a million pics but its hard to get the complete "picture" without seeing in person. Its a big purchase to be deciding on the whole exterior look sight unseen..

Hit up all the closest dealerships and order one in each of your favorite colors, then pick the one you like most haha! I'm lucky I love alpine white!

What about a little something different - Imola Red. Strongly considering this one and would like others thoughts. I've seen it in person and like it quite a bit.

Well unless you need to get a new car very soon e.g. due to a lease ending (which I'm guessing isn't the case with an E60 M5), then you could always wait a while until these cars show up on dealer lots, the road, at BMW CCA chapter/Cars and Coffee meets, etc and observe these colors in-person -- or at the very least there will be more picture threads with more lighting conditions to study. Worst case you go a few extra months without getting the car, but trust me that if you see a color you really like, the ability to order it with confidence and the long-term enjoyment of a change that it sounds like you're looking for will be worth the short-term delay. You'll also likely be able to get better pricing by waiting until initial demand cools. It's not like this is a limited-run model that you have to order asap or miss out on like the 1M, after all.
