Correct, here in the UK, no deals to be had on ANY "P" cars, book price is what you pay and "Bottom book" for your trade-in.
So no "P Cars" for me thanks.

I could understand that. A little extra money doesn't keep me from getting what I want though.

If I really wanted one Mike I would go for it, but TBH the 928 GTS I had was one of the best "P" cars out there and I was waiting for it's replacement but look what they did.
Panamera F**ling hell.

lol John! If you are talking about the console in the 991, that is one of the best parts of the new car. As a BMW guy at heart (having owned a ton of them) the 997 was too "plain" for me. I like a bit of luxury. But to each his own.

Side Note: I went to the dealer yesterday to see that M6 I ordered and passed on-wow! That thing was hot! I did "think" for a moment then I called the wife to straighten me out.

but it is so nice to have individualism, especially when it is interior, you don't stand out from others, but when you get inside you just LOVE it

yh u can buy boxter for the options of 991, but how cool is it to have leather vents in your car !!

The problem is, there are suckers that will buy it up for the 'exclusiveness' of what they are offering at a steep profit. Look at the 3 series, and it is exactly the same story.

A 2007 335 with decent options ran you about 43k. If you were to option the same car today, it's closer to 53k. The problem is there are suckers out there paying for it, so you can't really blame BMW.

I would call it a customer purchasing what they want as price may have never been a decision point. I will do research, but clearly I don't fault a person that says loaded it up(:

+1. And I certainly wouldn't call them "suckers".

Negotiating a good discount is part of the new car buying experience for me; I was offered 10% discount on list for a 981 Cayman S stock car (new model to UK, deal was over the phone, never having met the sales team) with a fair trade-in, but no deals on factory order to spec, which was a deal breaker for me, though doubt if there will be any deals on a 991 gt3, stock or otherwise.

Also need to take into account that the Cayman S with a few options is equivalent to $103K in UK, so all the more reasons to push for a deal if you can, as IMO cars are overpriced in the UK, if no where near as expensive as local taxes make cars in some counties.

In general for any given manufacturer the list price of std cars increases disproportionately with the costs, lets face it, a 7 series does not cost BMW 1.5 times to build as a 3 series, so fair discount on a new car still leaves the manufacturer in profit.

I totally respect anyone in a position to buy a car at list without question (plenty of things that I buy that I would never dream of asking a discount for) and I would raise a glass to your good health, however, I have an almost innate need to haggle when it comes to buying cars in the UK.

No offence intended by this post, it is hopefully informative to UK buyers that it is possible to negotiate deals on P-cars in the UK if you so wish.

I travel to Europe a lot, and I feel for you guys on what you have to pay for cars! I see the prices, and it's unreal. Well wishes.

No offense taken whatsoever. I n fact, I totally agree with you. I love the "game" too. I got $12K off of mine by sticking to my guns. What I meant was that I would not let a few thousand difference (options wise) keep me from buying the car I wanted. Would I ask for a discount-heck yes!

We have some crazy dealers here too. some hold firm, others drop their drawers before you say "hello". Usually deal with a lot of bs from them in the end. I strayed on my last two purchases form dealing with the dealer that treated me best and went for the best price-two worst buying experiences of my life.

Too true - I stuck with my trusted dealer for the M5, even though they didn't match the discounts offered elsewhere, they did make every effort to come close (not part of a large 'chain', unlike those offering better deals).

I think its ridiculous that BMWs and Mercedes have halogen headlights as the base headlight when non luxury brands have HIDs standard. HID should be the standard headlight system with LED being the premium option. Its somewhat insulting to be playing 50K+ for a car and it has halogen lamps.
